Gig on the Grass was a gas!

The Gig on the Grass once again proved to be a big hit on Cobar Shire Council’s Grey Mardi Gras festival program with more than 950 people attending the open air music event at Ward Oval on Saturday night. Festival organiser Demi Smith said the six hour concert was by far the most popular event on this year’s program. “Families were the main demographic,” Demi said. There were also 72 18-24 year olds who took up the opportunity for a free ticket for the event, as part of Youth Week celebrations (funded by the NSW Government). Other events on this year’s festival program included markets and a street parade on Saturday morning in the CBD. Above is the Blues Brothers Rebooted tribute band whose high energy performance revved up the crowd. At right: Performers Lawrie and Shelley Minson, some of the crowd and local band Ballz n All. For more photos from the festival, see pages 7, 10, 11 and 13.
