Local pubs to become tourist

Fire service acknowledges Police arrest an armed

Brad Lennon (at centre holding framed certificate), a long serving Fire and Rescue Station 256 crew member, has recently retired after dedicating 18 years as a Retained Firefighter with the service. Brad joined the Cobar station in January 2005 as their 151st firefighter and served as their captain for almost eight years. (He was Cobar’s 18th captain and one of their longest serving.) Brad was officially farewelled on Saturday night by his Station 256 family, along with Fire and Rescue NSW Acting Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell, Regional Operations staff, members of Dubbo and Nyngan brigades, former 256 crew members, other local emergency services personnel, immediate family and friends.

Past and present pubs to be part of west’s tourist attraction

Cobar’s past and present pubs are set to become tourist attractions as part of a project currently underway by the Far North West Joint Organisation (FNWJO).

A travelling team will visit Cobar next Wednesday to undertake a stakeholder workshop for the Far West Historic Hotels Touring

Chairman of the FNWJO Councillor Barry Hollman said the Hotels Touring Route project is being undertaken by Gidgee Media and headed up by well-known Bourke local Andrew Hull.

“Andrew has a long history of storytelling in Western NSW from the Opal Fields of Light-

He explained the project aims to celebrate and encourage visitors to explore the history, heritage, and contemporary values of the Great Australian Bush Watering Hole.

“The Aussie pub is as iconic to the Australian Outback landscape as red dirt.

“Across the Local Government Areas of Walgett, Bourke and Cobar, there are hundreds of sites where pubs once stood, and while we t access many of these sites, it’s important that the fascinating stories attached to them are recorded and told,” Cr Hollman said.

These stories form an important part of the s history and should not be lost.

The legacy of their existence and the sites of what remains are like remote monuments to the development of modern Australia and the identity of the Outback.

They are like an archive holding the story of Western NSW during this development peri-

Mr Hull said the entire Gidgee Media team has a strong connection to the region and a deep passion for the area.

The team are also working with local historians, photographers and, most importantly, local storytellers, so the narrative of the region gets told by the people of the region – that’s really important,” Mr Hull said.

The project team has already been busy gathering information but they want local residents to have their say and the stakeholder workshops are an opportunity for people to provide additional information and stories.”

Cr Hollman encourages anyone who has any information, stories, family folklore, or photographs which could add to the project to attend next week’s information session.

Peak donates to 29 local groups

Aurelia Metals’ Peak Gold Mines has donated an impressive $124,020 to 29 local community groups this past year and they aren’t done yet.

Peak’s Environment & Community Advisor Laura Newton said the company has another round of community donations funding coming up next month.

Twelve local groups were among the beneficiaries of the mine’s Quarter 3 donations which were recently handed out and amounted to almost $50,000.

Laura said the company was pleased to be able to help out with some interesting local projects including the Cobar Youth Council’s nutrition and education program which received $5,000 in this latest round of funding.

“We’ve also helped Cobar High School with accommodation and travel costs for students to attend the School Spectacular, the Cobar Business Association to supply entertainment for the Christmas Street Parade and also donated $8,800 for two fire fighting units for the Sandy Creek Fire Brigade,” Laura said.

Other beneficiaries from the latest round of funding included: Buckwaroon Landcare Group, Cobar Roosters Rugby League Club, Cobar Junior Rugby League, Cobar Swimming Club, Copper City Men’s Shed, Iron Ring Committee, Cobar Lady Golfers and the Dust Bowl Fuel Burners club.

The mine welcomes applications from any local sporting and charity groups.

Quarter 4 donations will be advertised next month.

Local Firies are well supported

Fire and Rescue NSW Acting Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell AFSM (at far right) and Assistant Commissioner for Regional Operations Cheryl Steer (at left) were in Cobar on Saturday to meet with the Cobar Fire Station 256 crew and CSA Mine manager Rob Walker (second from right), one of the local employers in our community that supports the station. Acting Commissioner Fewtrell said the Cobar crew turned out to 83 emergency events in the past year, assisting with a range of fires, car crashes, medical emergencies and rescues but that couldn’t be done without the support of local businesses such as the CSA Mine, Cobar Shire, Aurelia Metals and Cobar TAFE, all of whom employ Cobar station crew members. ▪ Photo contributed

Local students to join music festival Police arrest an armed woman

An armed woman has been arrested and charged with malicious damage at a home in Leah Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Cobar Police Sergeant Warwick Laing said police had been called to the home around 1.15am on October 8 after they had received reports of screaming coming from the house.

“Upon arrival police saw that the front screen door was damaged and a window was smashed,” Sergeant Laing said.

“Following a police investigation, a 19 year old Cobar female was arrested and charged with Armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of Malicious Damage.”

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Cobar Local Court later this month.

All deadlines 2pm Mondays

Students at Cobar High School will share their unique perspectives and experiences of living in rural NSW, at the Cobar Chamber Music Festival this Friday and Saturday.

Georges Lentz, composer, sound artist and creator of the Cobar Sound Chapel, is bringing the music festival to Cobar.

The 2023 Cobar Chamber Music Festival is the first of what’s hoped will become an annual festival, and this year is part of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s (SSO) regional outreach program.

As part of the celebrations, Mr Lentz and the SSO Fellows will be presenting fun and interactive concerts at the Lilliane Brady Village, Cobar Public School, St John’s Parish Primary School and Cobar High School.

As part of the festival, a group of 18 students from Cobar High School will explore Cobar’s rich mining history through a collaborative composition workshop with local historian Kay Stingemore and music teacher Laura Andrew.

The SSO Fellows will then be performing evocative soundscapes composed by the stu-

dents inside the Cobar Miners Memorial.

The compositions will be inspired by the story of a family involved in the Cobar mines in the early 1900s.

Sonia de Freitas, Head of Education & Communities at SSO, said they were looking forward to coming to Cobar.

“This project has a strong connection to place, it is an out of the box idea and a unique opportunity for the musicians and the students of Cobar,” Ms de Freitas said.

Locals are invited to attend the showcase at the Miners Memorial on Friday and also at the Sound Chapel on Saturday.

Cobar High School’s Sounds & Stories, an 18-minute sound art piece that weaves together original student compositions, oral histories and environmental sounds recorded by the students, will be on exhibition at the Sound Chapel on Saturday.

The work captures and celebrates stories of local community members about their memories of the Silver Tank – a water tank which sits on the land of the Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan people.

The project was facilitated by composer Elizabeth Jigalin and music teacher Laura Andrew and was recently awarded the winner for ‘Excellence in Music Education’ at the 2023 Art Music Awards.

Ms Andrew said as well as welcoming the SSO musicians to Cobar, this festival is a celebration of the history of Cobar and the local community.

“Music has the potential to shine a light on and conserve and document the stories that exist in our local town.

“I think the Chamber Musical Festival is starting to do just that,” Ms Andrew said

Aurelia Metals comes to the rescue of Cobar High drummers

A group of 10 students from Cobar High School have been successful in their audition for the Schools Spectacular Taiko Drumming Ensemble.

Schools Spectacular is an iconic cultural annual event incorporating students from diverse backgrounds and communities from the length and breadth of the state.

The school’s music teacher Laura Andrew said the students will be part of the Opening and Culturally Fab section which will feature

taiko drumming for the first time at Qudos Bank Arena next month.

“Aurelia Metals has come to the rescue and is covering the full cost of accommodation and travel for seven nights in Sydney for 10 students and two teachers to participate in the incredible Schools Spectacular program,” Ms Andrew said.

“Students will be learning from leading professionals and will have the opportunity to share their talents on a national stage.

“Aurelia Metals is closing the gap for students in regional NSW to have the same opportunities to the performing arts as students in Sydney.

“If we didn’t have Aurelia Metals’ community donation, we wouldn’t be able to get to Sydney for the rehearsals and performances.

“It would just place too much financial stress on parents and caregivers.

“Families in Sydney do not have the barrier of distance that we have,” said Ms Andrew.

Through participating in Schools Spectacular, students will gain a greater sense of confidence in their abilities and develop their skills and artistry on taiko drums.

Ms Andrew said the skills and knowledge students gain from this experience will be transferrable to the workforce.

Students are also excited to share their expanding taiko repertoire and skills at future local community events.

Cobar High School will be proudly representing students from regional and remote NSW when they perform on this world-class stage in November.

Police sorting out another fight

Cobar Police were called to the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club to sort out a fight between two male patrons around 11pm on Friday night.

Police had been contacted by staff regarding an altercation between a 33 year old Cobar male who alleged he’d been assaulted by a 55 year old local man, causing his nose to bleed.

Cobar Police Sergeant Warwick Laing said police directed both men to leave the area due to their level of intoxication and behaviour.

“Investigations are continuing into this matter,” Sergeant Laing said.

TrainLink passengers stay connected

Passengers on the Cobar to Dubbo NSW TrainLink coach service can now stay connected thanks to a trial of free satellitebased Wi-Fi and technology to boost mobile phone signals.

Multiple cellular repeaters have been installed on board the coach that makes the daily return journey from Dubbo to Broken Hill.

The repeaters will boost mobile signal in areas of low coverage by retransmitting mobile signals for Telstra, Optus and Vodafone customers.

In a further boost, free Wi-Fi is being provided in non-coverage areas through the use of a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in-motion satellite network which allows customers free access to up to 600MB of data.

The trial will last just over a month and is the result of collaboration between Transport for NSW, NSW TrainLink and the NSW Telco Authority.

NSW TrainLink will use the trial as proof of concept to see how passengers are using the technologies and whether it might be rolled out on more services across the regional coach network.

The return coach services between Dubbo and Broken Hill are provided by Bus Biz and stop at Narromine, Trangie, Nevertire, Nyngan, Cobar and Wilcannia.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Jenny Aitchison welcomed the trial.

“The trip between Dubbo and Broken Hill takes around nine hours each way through remote areas rife with black spots, meaning mobile phone reception could be patchy and phone data-based internet connectivity unreliable.

“Regional and remote communities are sadly often stuck on the wrong side of the digital divide but this exciting trial aims to reduce that divide while delivering a better, more

convenient public transport experience in the outback,” Ms Aitchison said.

Stephen Lawrence MLC said while the trial was underway tourists would be able to plan ahead and make bookings while on board, families could stay in touch and passengers can also catch up on work, news, social media or enjoy streamed entertainment.

“The potential benefits are immense and the trial is another example of how NSW TrainLink and Transport for NSW are continuing to explore new ways of improving services for people in the bush,” Mr Lawrence said.

Mixed bag of weather this week

Cobar’s weather is forecast to be quite varied over the next week with 13 degrees the difference in our top daytime temperatures.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting temperatures to range from an expected top of 34 degrees tomorrow (which is supposed to be our warmest day of the week) to just a maximum of 21 next Monday (Cobar’s expected coolest day of the week).

We’re heading for a top of 31 degrees today, then 34 tomorrow while 25 is the expected maximum for Friday.

It should be a mostly sunny weekend with 28 predicted for Saturday while the forecast for Sunday is a top of 27 degrees.

Last Wednesday reached a top of 19.3 degrees and Thursday was only 18.9.

The Bureau recorded rainfall last Wednesday and Thursday which put 0.6mm and 4mm in the towns gauge respectively.

A call for more trees to be planted

Following the recent clearing of an area at the eastern entrance to town for a free camp parking space, there’s been a call for some new trees to be planted there.

The matter was discussed at a recent Tourism Advisory Committee meeting.

Cobar Services Club manager Linda Carter praised Cobar Shire Council for opening up the area to give caravan visitors more parking space closer to town but suggested the area could do with some trees.

Council’s Tourism Manager Demi Smith advised the request would be taken to council for consideration.

Demi advised the meeting that our visitor numbers at the Tourist Information Centre and the Great Cobar Museum to the end of August are slightly down on last year’s figures however income at the museum is up on last year’s tally ie we’ve had less visitors but they are spending more.

During the meeting local historians Kay Stingemore and John Collins outlined the work they have been doing to revamp the grave markers at Cobar Cemetery.

A number of old wooden markers have deteriorated and are being replaced by metal plaques.

Mr Collins reports among those markers they have replaced were one for a local legend, Norman Ferson, who was born in Canada and died in 1909 at age 109.

There’s also John Jacobsen, who Mr Collins said not much is known about only that he came from Nymagee. Jacobsen died in 1936 at age 110 and is believed to be the oldest man buried at the cemetery.

Retiring teacher will only be taking fond memories with her

In 40 plus years of teaching, recently retired Daphne Jermyn has lots of fond memories of her time at Cobar Public School (CPS).

After leaving teacher’s college 43 years ago, Mrs Jermyn spent 41 of those here in Cobar.

“I first came to Cobar in March 1982 in the middle of a drought and started teaching kindergarten,” Mrs Jermyn said in a recent sitdown interview with The Cobar Weekly.

“Back then the school had almost 600 kids.

“When I came, they had two kindergarten classes, and over 40 kindergarten kids in each class. So they needed another teacher and I ended up having Kindergarten.

“Cobar Public School was my first permanent appointment.”

Mrs Jermyn lists teaching a Year 4-6 composite class as a standout in her mind as one of her career highlights. (At that time composite classes were a new and unknown concept and were a cause for concern for a number of parents.)

To this day it stands out as my best class that I’ve ever had to teach.

“It was fantastic! There were some siblings in it, the kids all got on well.”

Other highlights for Mrs Jermyn included teaching distance education, working as the school’s librarian, going to mini schools, attending Schools Spectacular and regional Spectacular events, being involved in the schools Outback Festival, school excursions, helping out in the school’s food garden and mentoring young teachers.

She’s filled in as the relieving principal at CPS on occasions when required throughout her career and also did a stint as principal at Louth in 2018.

“It was amazing. I loved it. They are beautiful kids out there, beautiful memories”.

She often took her hobbies of art, craft, music and gardening in to the classroom.

“In school, if there were difficulties with kids or anything, you could always give them a piece of paper and ask them to draw and inevitably, something comes out and it helps them to express their ideas and thoughts.

“I used to have a newsbook and a few kids would get it each day and they’d have a little square to draw in and write a caption.

“And I’ve kept those, I just love those and I loved doing art and craft, drawing and painting and anything like that with the kids.”

Mrs Jermyn said she not only enjoyed working with children but also made lots of “lifelong friends” with a number of CPS teachers, many of whom have moved away but she still keeps in touch with.

Since coming to Cobar Mrs Jermyn has been involved in the Cobar Arts Council and also

with her daughters’ dance schools, working behind the scenes and making countless costumes.

Recently, Mrs Jermyn made the decision to retire.

“I think there comes a time.

“Not having enough contact with family and with them living away and getting older is another reason.

“Also, you can’t maintain contact with all the colleagues you’ve had, and enjoy really close working or social friendships or relationships that you’ve developed if you’re still going to work.

“There’s another life out there,” she said.

“I now enjoy having some flexibility.”

Despite retiring, Mrs Jermyn however has no plans of slowing down.

“We’re moving to Gunnedah, my dad is in care there.

“We have a house there. I will probably just continue doing gardening, crafting and visiting and catching up with lots of people.

“We’ll also be doing a little bit of tripping around.

We’re not selling our house [in Cobar] because we might come back!”

Mrs Jermyn attributes her long stay in Cobar to meeting and marrying local, Bill Jermyn.

I met a local, married a local and stayed.

“It’s been a wonderful place to have children and bring up children, and mine still say it was great to grow up here.”

Their move to Gunnedah will put the couple closer to their two daughters, Hannah, who works at Harper Collins Publishing and Laura, who went to University in Wollongong and did a degree in commerce, then got into real estate.

Despite being excited for the future, Mrs

Jermyn said she will miss Cobar and the small community feel where everybody knows each other.

“You could go for a coffee or go to the pub or club and always be sitting with people you know or pick up conversations with people you haven’t seen for months or years.

“You’re never on your own. It’s a very sociable town.” ▪ Article compiled and written by work experience student Luke Giurin

Polack beat Prendergast in a cracker of a game at Golfie

A thrilling game took place in the s bowls Singles Championships competitiononFridayafternoon.

The match between Tony Polack and Ian Prendergast was a cracker of a game with Polack finishing as the eventual winner.

Prendergast started out strong and was leading by four shots for some time until Polack countered with a couple of two and three shot

From then on Polack maintained his dominance of the game, but it was not without a tenacious fight back from Prendergast.

Try as he might, Prendergast however could not narrow the margin any closer than three

He had his final opportunity on the last end when it was still three points the difference but despite having the glory of winning the final end, Prendergast however needed four points to claim a win but only won the end by Polack triumphed and will now go through to the semi finals.

Another Championship game was played on Sunday with Don Roberts and Kyle Roberts taking on Tom McKeown and Justin Patzwall in the Pairs competition.

The mighty Roberts combination appears to be unstoppable and they didn’t show any mercy in this game as they kept McKeown and Patzwall out of the game for the first nine ends.

Pretty much, despite some good bowls from their opposition, nothing was going to steal Roberts’ thunder.

Their impressive +25 win takes them through to the semi finals.

Two Golfie teams travelled to Bourke on Saturday to participate in the President’s Day Bowls and, although neither came home victors, all thoroughly enjoyed the new synthetic green and appreciated the roof cover over head.

It was noted that the team of Gerard Livingston, David ‘Ooze’ Knight and Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey won both their games, however they just didn’t get enough points to earn a place.

There was a spectacular setting sun on the skyline for Friday night’s Twilight Bowls event.

Romping home with a +16 win were Allan Gardoll and Bell Starr over Alan Knight and Pat Polack.

The other game, between Karen Daly and David Kershaw up against John Daly and Justin Patzwall, was very tight with Daly and Kershaw finishing as eventual winners by +1.

Patzwall won the spider prize but the Jackpot was not won and now sits at $700.

David ‘Ooze’ Knight and Paul Kershaw, with +9, took out the win in Social Bowls on Sunday after beating John Daly and Ray Jones.

The other game between Tony Polack and David Thomas up against Doug Hudson and Karen Daly ended in favour of Polack and Thomas by +3.

The weekly George The Giraffe Award recipient was Ian Prendergast.

Two wrong biases during his championship game (it was such an intense game) helped to earn him the title. The Second

Foster teams up with The Beagle Boys to win

Jason Foster teamed up with ‘The Beagle Boys’, Greg Clark and Steve Manns, to win the Men’s Golf Three-ball-Classic on Saturday.

They won by one shot with a score of 85 in the field of 24 players (eight teams).

The team of Ian Prendergast, Wayne Josephson and Tony Polack came a close second.

Third place went to Matt Russell, Corin Ah-See and Nick Buckman with 83, beating the Frasers (Stewart, Alec and Mark) on a countback.

Nearest the Pin prizes were won on the 3rd and 7th holes by Alec Fraser, the 8th by Mark Fraser and the 15th hole prize was won by Jo Blignaut.

The11thwasnotwon.

With a number of players travelling to Hillston to play in their open, there were only nine players on the home course Sunday for a Stableford.

It was a good day for Bill Fugar who won the competition with 39 points along with two Nearest the Pin prizes.

In second place with 36 points, was the veteran, Max Phillips and third place went to the super vet, Piers Brown.

Mark Quinn scored his first Nearest the Pin prize in 27 years on the 3rd hole.

Fugar won the prizes on the 7th and 8th and Phillips won the 15th hole.

Cobar took a big team of men (and women) golfers to Hillston on Sunday and according to Peter ‘Ding’ Lawrence, Cobar had a good day.

Lawrence reports of the eight men who played, only Stewart Fraser and Peter ‘China’ Brien failed to win something.

Mark Fraser just lost the Scratch event in a play-off for first place on the second hole while Alec Fraser won the Net event.

(It’s been suggested that Stewart Fraser should start playing cricket after he scored a nine on one hole.)

An individual Stableford will be played on Saturday and Sunday’s game is a Par event.

The NSW Sandgreen Championships will be held in Hay this weekend as well. Out of Bounds

Only the weekend matches in the Ladies’ Golf competition went ahead last week after Wednesday’s storm disrupted the mid week game.

Scores were rather low as golfers were trying to work out the best path to take as most fairways have been either scarified on the edges or up the middle of the fairway on some holes as maintenance work is being undertaken.

(Those using carts have been asked not to drive on these areas.)

Karen Manns was the winner of Saturday’s Stableford with 32 points followed by Geraldine Francisco on 30 points while Serena Fraser and Jannine Wilkin both had 29 points.

Nearest to the flag on the 15th hole were Julie Livingston, Serena Fraser and Ann Dunn. After playing on Saturday, Barb Barklimore had the course worked out on Sunday to finish with an impressive 39 points to claim the Stableford win.

Marlene Wynd sank some very good putts to finish with 35 points for second place. The lady golfers welcomed back Pat Polack (after injury had her sidelined for the latter part of this season) and she finished with 28 points to claim a well deserved third place.

Daphne Cross was fourth on 27 points.

Nearest the Pin winners on the 3rd hole were Geraldine Francisco and Barb Barklimore. Golfers (and those walking through the

course) are advised that a number of snakes were sighted on the weekend.

Sunday was also the Hillston Men’s and Women’s Open with nine Cobar ladies making up the majority of the 17 women field attending.

Fay Hardwick won the 18 hole Scratch title with 87 off the stick.

Robynne Morton was the Net winner with 75 and also won the A Grade Longest Drive prize.

Brenda Fugar (38) won the nine hole Net competition and Narelle Kriz was the runnerup on 38½ net.

Serena Fraser was the A Grade Nearest the Pin winner.

Tena Blignaut had 98 off the stick to win the B Grade Scratch title and Ann Dunn was the 18 hole Net runner-up with 80 net.

A Stroke game will be played today with the Ladies’ Golf AGM to follow. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday is a Par round with another Stroke game set down for Sunday. T'd Off

The loss has now wrapped up the season for the Western Rams Tag team.

Cliffhanger gets underway for 2023

The 2023 Cliffhanger biennial off road racing event got underway on Sunday at Mt Gap station north west of Cobar.

Described as “the big daddy of Australian 4x4 racing” the event has been held in the Cobar area since 2010 and features tough winch courses, long navigation stages and fast creek runs.

FWAS Rugby League trials were held on Sunday in Warren with over 80 athletes participating including Cobar kids Joe Webster, Nick Hodges, Axel Fairfull and Bridgette Negfeldt (pictured above) along with Skyla Fairfull, Nate Martin and Clay McDonald. Manly Sea Eagles’ junior representative coaching coordinator Geoff Toovey also attended the trials to share some of his knowledge with the players.

Run over three classes, Winch truck (also known as the Challenge class which has been running since 2004), an Ultra 4 Buggy class and the Super Tourer class, which is ideal for newcomers, has something for all skill levels.

Entrants will cover 1,000km of outback trails over the week of competition which wraps up on Friday with presentations to follow on Saturday night.

See next week’s edition for results, including how the local 50seven Racing team fare.

(They were ranked 18th as of Monday afternoon.)

State shooters continue good form at club event

There were a dozen shooters for the Cobar Clay Target Club’s monthly event on Sunday.

The weather was fantastic for the four event program with a number of club members who recently competed at the Wagga Wagga State Titles over the long weekend among Sunday’s club competitors.

Many continued their good form after winning the State trophy for the Teams Event,

Barrel, there was a tie in AA Grade with Bryan Manns (a State winner) and Peter Hosie both finishing with a possible score 30 out of 30 targets.

Sam Nardi only dropped one shot to win A Grade with a score of 29/30 while Aiden Barraclough had a possible (30/30) to claim the win in B Grade.

Darcy Manns continued his good form from Wagga Wagga winning the C Grade title at

the next event, the 30 Target Single Barrel shoot, and again finished with another perfect score of 30/30.

Nardi had to share first place in A Grade with Matt Harland after both finished with 27/30.

Dick Tulloh won B Grade with a score of 28/30 and Darcy Manns and Julianne Foster couldn’t be separated in C Grade with both recording 22/30 for the win.

Bryan Manns returned to the winner’s circle in the 30 Target Point Score Event claiming a victory with a near perfect score of 89/90.

Harland, with 87/90, won A Grade; Brad Kendrick had the best score in B Grade with 83/90; and Darcy Manns won C Grade with his score of 85/90.

Bryan Manns finished the day with another win in the final event, the 15 Pair Double Rise. Manns had the best score of 28/30 to win AA Grade with Harland the top shot in A Grade, also with a total of 28/30.

Kendrick had his second win of the day in B Grade after he recorded 24/30 and Jarrod Barraclough claimed the winner’s prize in C Grade with a score of 27/30.

The Billy Manns Memorial Trophy will be up for grabs at the club’s November monthly

Zac’s off to China

Cobar Pony Club rider Zac Boland has been selected as one of four lucky Pony Club of Australia (PCA) members to take part in PCA’s 2023 exchange in China.

PCA has built up a special relationship with China Pony Club and the exchange provides many opportunities for Australian Pony Club members, coaches and team managers to visit China for competitions, cultural exchanges and riding school assessments and accreditation.

Among the competitors at the Cobar Clay Target Club’s monthly shoot on Sunday were Sam Nardi, Blake Dunne, Bryan Manns and Darcy Manns. ▪ Photo contributed
