HE exploits of four Clare people on an international stage has been garnering attention all over the world. As first reported by The Clare Echo, Jim Warny, a resident in Ennis for the past 15 years travelled to Thailand to assist in the rescue of a young football team and their 25 year old coach who were trapped in the Tham Luang cave complex. He played a central role in their retrieval and received a fitting welcome home when he returned to Shannon Airport with over 100 people gathering to applaud the Belgian born Banner hero. St Flannan’s student Jo Keane recorded a personal best in the World U20 800m semi-final at Helsinki. The 17 year old finlINTERNATIONAL STAGE: L to r,

ished in fifth place but was the only runner to complete a personal best. She runs with Ennis Track and has been highlighted as one to watch following her performances in the World Championships. Shannon native Ryan Nolan became the first footballer from the county to line out with Inter Milan’s first team in their 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Swiss Super League team Lugano. Nolan who plays as a central defender became only the third ever Irishman to line out with the Nerazzurri’s first team as he follows in the footsteps of Liam Brady and Robbie Keane. Rhys Williams on Saturday was crowned European Jumping Champion on the main grass arena of the Fontainebleau’s Grand Parquet. Rhys and his horse CES Cruson were the only combination to have not committed any mistake during the Longines FEI European Championship. Irish Youth team manager James Kernan praised the composure of the Ennis thirteen year old. “Rhys showed nerves of steel. He really is a star for the future”.
