EENAGE boys in Clare are “particularly” vulnerable to the risks of problem gambling, it has been claimed. Clare Sinn Féin made the claim in a statement to The Clare Echo, while claiming there has been a complete lack of engagement and regulation.
Clare Sinn Féin PRO Peter Flannigan said problem gamblers in the county are losing a “considerable amount of money each year.” “Last week the HSE revealed that the number of people receiving treatment on an optional basis for problem gambling has reached record levels.” “Combined with aggressive marketing, Clare people are more susceptible than ever to developing problem gambling habits, particularly teenage boys and young men.”
