SOLUTION to the shortage of school places for children entering secondary education appears to be in sight, following a meeting between a number of Clare principals. Following a number of complaints made to local representatives by concerned parents, secondary school enrollment lists are being shared in an effort to address the issue of parents enrolling their children at more than one school for the coming

school year. Clare’s Deputy Joe Carey said it was important the issue was resolved as quickly as possible as it was causing serious concern and anxiety for students and parents. Speaking about the issue, Carey added that the problem will also be alleviated due to upcoming developments at Ennis secondary schools, including the construction on an extension to provide an additional 200 school places at Ennis Community College and the addition of eight classrooms at Rice College.
