A
N ENNIS resident has warned that the Taliban are more dangerous now than they have been before. Sayed Farid Sanai was forced to flee Afghanistan after attempts on his life by the Taliban due to his role as a prominent journalist and broadcaster in his native country. He has lived in Direct Provision in Ennis since November 2019.
With the Taliban taking control, it has heightened his concern for his wife, son, mother, family and friends who are still in Afghanistan. He said, “I can’t do anything for my family, my relatives or friends, I’m very worried about them and I can’t sleep all the night. I feel I lost everything in this world, I feel I’ve lost all the world. Both of my knees are shaking with my country facing this type of a problem, I can’t believe what is going on there, this is a very big and bad situation for our people”. “It scares me to think of the Taliban coming back and stopping girls from being educated and working outside the home.”
