IMERICK billionaire JP McManus is the man that can make Shannon Airport the go to destination for golfers and tourists planning on attending the 2027 Ryder Cup. Clare County Council have been urged to lead the way in bringing neighbouring local authorities together so that the use of Shannon Airport is maximised for the Ryder Cup which will be held in Adare in five years.

Dublin Airport’s attempts to market itself as the gateway to the Ryder Cup suggests its staff require a lesson in geography, Cllr Ian Lynch (IND) quipped. Shannon’s proximity to Adare needs to be a major selling point, Cllr Pat Daly (FF) emphasised while suggesting, “JP McManus needs to be brought into it, he is the man that will dictate and set it up, he has the power, he needs to meet with management of the four local authorities”.
