N A DISPLAY of Christmas cheer, gardaí in Shannon have teamed up with local businesses to bring festive gifts to senior and vulnerable citizens in Cratloe, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Shannon and Sixmilebridge. Shannon gardaí will be bringing hot meals, a mince pie and a Christmas hamper of essential foods and goodies to show their thanks and appreciation to 159 elderly and

vulnerable people living in the area. Included in the hamper is a Christmas card from Junior and Senior infants pupils from schools within the locality. Ordinarily, a Christmas event is held by Shannon Garda Station, this initiative has been organised as an alternative to reach out to persons that may be in need of support. “Because they can’t come to us, we’re going to them,” explained Inspector Paul Slattery.
