LARE’S incidence rate per 100,000 of population is the fourth highest in the country while the county also recorded its highest amount of new cases in the space of 24 hours in the past week. An incidence rate as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) is the number of new cases of disease
during a specified time interval. Only Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan have a higher fourteen day incidence rate than Co Clare in data presented by the Department of Health this week. County figures from Friday (October 9) revealed Clare recorded its highest amount of new cases (59) in 24 hours. A total of 215 new cases have emerged in the county from October 4th to October 11th representing a worrying period of growth for the virus in Clare. In order to suppress the rate of growth of Coronavirus,
Chief Medical Officer with the Department of Health, Dr Tony Holohan has appealed to people to reduce their amount of social contacts. “It is vital that the entire population consistently implement public health advice into their daily lives, keep your social contacts to an absolute minimum and keep physical distance when you need to be out of your home”.
