WO of Clare’s elected representatives have come under national attention for breaching expenses rules. Ennis councillors, Mary Howard (FG) and Clare Colleran Molloy (FF) received double payments by incorrectly claiming expenses,

an investigation by RTÉ has revealed. Colleran Molloy has reimbursed Clare County Council €343 for errors which she has taken responsibility for. Howard said she was hopeful to bring the matter to a conclusion in the coming days. Clare Echo political columnist Eoin Neylon reserved praise for the pair’s track record and insists they deserve the public’s forgiveness over the controversy.
