County Clare moves to phase 2 of Roadmap PAT DOWLING Chief Executive, Clare County Council

A

ROUND the county, and the country, this is a time for hope. As we move to phase 2 in the Government’s accelerated Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business, measures are gradually being lifted and the country is reopening in a phased, careful manner. Based on the medical evidence and the recommendations of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET), and on Government reports on the economic and social impact of Covid-19, all elements of phase 2 were implemented on June 8th and Ireland has moved further along the Roadmap. Thanks to the efforts of the public, and owing to the many sacrifices that everyone has made to restrict the spread of the virus, we are collectively taking a step forward. This is also a time for care. As restrictions are eased, we must hold firm and continue to comply with all of the guidelines issued by Government. The rate of the virus in the community will be constantly monitored by the NPHET, and this will be foremost in all planning. Continue to follow the basic health advice. While the measures seem simple, they are vital to protect us all: wash your hands, practise good cough and sneeze etiquette, stay 2m away from others, avoid crowds and know the symptoms. Clare County Council is acutely aware of the challenges facing business as a result of Covid-19. The Council is implementing the national policy on commercial rates alleviation measures and is facilitating the Restart Grant application process for all applicants in County Clare in order to restart the local economy. Through Local Enterprise Office Clare, the Council is implementing national Government support schemes such as the Business Continuity Voucher, Trading Online Voucher, Free Mentor support and free online training programmes. Clare County Council wishes all businesses in County Clare that have recently reopened or are planning to do so a safe and successful reopening. Everyone is encouraged to shop locally, shop safely and support businesses in the community as we work together to rebuild the local economy. Please continue to comply with public health guidelines as we move forward.
