HANNON schools were targeted by anti-vaxxers with graffiti also sprayed outside the homes of volunteer Board of Management members. Between Thursday night and Friday morning Shannon primary schools, Gaelscoil Donnacha Rua and St Conaires National School had graffiti sprayed on their walls. Management at both schools moved quickly to remove the messaging which questioned the administering of vaccines and benefits of face masks.
Homes owned by members of Board of Management from one school in the town were also targeted following the decision by Government on the recommendation of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) to introduce the wearing of face masks for students in primary schools. An Garda Síochána have confirmed to The Clare Echo that they have not received reports of criminal damage during the incidents. Cllr Donna McGettigan (SF) said the manner of protest was carried out in the wrong way. “Everyone has a right to protest but go ahead and do it on your own property, stand at the side of the road with a sign or banner if you wish but do not go out to upset people.”
