LARE TD, Violet-Anne Wynne (IND) has said she and her six children are now homeless. It is the first instance that a TD from the county and indeed within the State has admitted to being homeless. The Kilrush woman is now living in a holiday home with her partner and six children, claiming she was recently issued with a notice to quit the two-bedroom property they had been residing in. While initially hopefully that the family would secure a property, their mood has begun to drop, she admitted. “It is pressure like
no other and it really impacts everyone in the household, the complete uncertainty of where you are going to live”. Controversies with housing have been a part of Deputy Wynne’s political life. In May 2020, she paid back a rent arrears of €12,000 which was owed over a fouryear period to Rural Resettlement Ireland while she was living in a Tullycrine property. The Jim Connolly founded organisation is no longer operating and RRI made the decision to donate the arrears to charity. Deputy Wynne previously told The Clare Echo that she was homeless for one week prior to moving to Kilrush. When pregnant, she claimed to have spent three to four months living in a rat infested house and this proved to be her motivation to enter politics.
