N ATTEMPTED broad daylight robbery of a mother out walking in Ennis with her two children has been described as “very disturbing”. On Sunday afternoon, three men attempted to rob a mother in front of her two children on the Drumcliffe Road. The two young children had their phones smashed by the men who approached the family from behind. Speaking to The Clare Echo, Cllr
Johnny Flynn (FG) expressed his worry that an incident like this would occur in broad daylight. “It is very disturbing,” he admitted. “We all love Ennis and are very proud of Ennis but there is a small element impacting negatively on our quality of life”. He said that the quality of CCTV used by An Garda Síochána covering Ennis town centre and the approach roads is of a very high quality that will aid them in their efforts to use enhanced technology to deal with crime. “It shows a dreadful attitude to women. Gender based violence is totally unacceptable.”
