N ONLINE video created by a youth group from Ennistymon has gone viral worldwide, hitting an incredible 2 million views yesterday. Clare Youth Action’s slogan is to make a difference and they have certainly done that after a video they produced (inset) highlighting the negative consequences of plastic on the environment and its inhabitants was shared by The Clare Echo. As of 4pm on Wednesday, it had reached a global audience in excess of 5.5million, had 2m views with over 70,000 shares. For context, The Late Late Toy Show was the most watched programme on Irish
television so far this year with a reach of 1.9 million people and an average audience of 1.3 million. Six people both young and slightly older produced, directed and filmed the video. Amy Custy (14) is the star, videographer James Sheppard (39) was the director where he was assisted by Caitlin Griffin (14), Donnacha McManus (14), Clodagh Sully (20) and resource worker Emma Sams (51).
