€5M HIT 100,000 VISITORS FLOCK TO CLARE

HE Dubai Duty Free Irish Open has arrived in Lahinch, with in the region of 100,000 visitors expected to descend on the North Clare village over the next four days. An estimated 5m will be spent by tourists in Lahinch during the event which had already sold more than 80,000 tickets in advance of Thursday’s 6.45am tee off time. Some 900 volunteers have been recruited by Lahinch Golf Club to oversee the action, where
15 of the world’s top 50 players will compete including Ireland’s own Shane Lowry who is among the tournament favourites. General Manager at Lahinch Golf Club, Paddy Keane told The Clare Echo, “It’s the biggest tournament that has ever come to Lahinch. “What happens today is the history of tomorrow, it will go down as one of the greatest occasions ever in the history of the club.”
