AVY Fitzgerald has described online trolls as “nobodys” in a wide-ranging interview with The Clare Echo as he launches Clare’s Fittest Superstars. The returning Wexford manager also admitted he feels sorry for retired hurling boss Ger Loughnane, addressing a written verbal attack aimed at Davy and his father Pat Fitzgerald in a recent column in an edition of the Irish Daily Star. Davy made the comments
as he prepares to host Clare’s Fittest Superstars on December 8 at The Showgrounds in Ennis in aid of Sláinte an Chláir, an event which challenges local teams of four to take on his toughest obstacle course yet. Responding to the newspaper article written by Loughnane, the Sixmilebridge man said, “I recognise that Ger Loughnane helped us achieve an All-Ireland after 81 years, I’ll always respect that but I actually feel sorry for him at the moment. “I don’t think he is up to scratch and I don’t think he has Clare interests at heart, there is way more behind that as we have seen over the past couple of years. Clare isn’t to the forefront of his mind. I feel sorry that he has lost what he had.”
