USACK Park officials have promised there will be no repeat of Sunday’s ‘lock-in’ which saw swarms of GAA fans stuck in the county grounds for a short time. Following the SHC semi-final on Sunday, just a single gate was open for spectators to exit Cusack Park. Large queues formed and it took several minutes for the main gates to be opened while over a thousand people attempted to leave the county grounds via one gate. Tom McNamara was one of the several individuals unable to leave due to the locked gates. dium and you just wonder if there was an emergency what could have happened.” A spokesperson for Clare GAA outlined, “As soon as we were aware, within a minute the gates were opened”. When asked whether discussions have taken place at county board level regarding the locked gates since the weekend, the representative was adamant “It won’t be happening again”.
