Kwame Mbalia Mbalia is the New York Times bestselling author of Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky, for which he won the Coretta Scott King Author Honor Award. Published by Rick Riordan Presents/DisneyHyperion, the middle grade trilogy follows seventh grader Tristan Strong’s adventures in a world of African American folk heroes and West African gods. The last book of the Tristan Strong trilogy – Tristan Strong Keeps Punching – was released on October 5th, 2021. He cowrote Last Gate of the Emperor with Prince Joel Makonnen from Scholastic. Mbalia is also the editor of Black Boy Joy, a middle grade anthology about celebrating Black boyhood, which was released on August 3rd, 2021 by Delacorte Press.
