Winter Concert Months of dedication came to a satisfying end last Thursday when the Music department presented their Winter Show. Ms Jones, Ms Cran, Ms Zembron, Mr Gill and Mr Khan worked across all year groups to showcase the budding musical talent The City Academy is famous for nurturing. James Bkola bravely kicked everything off with his solo of It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with Mr Gill and The Big Band finishing up the first half with a very cool jazz number.
Special mention must go to the comperes James Bokola, Henry Sharples, Ansu Njai and Tyrese Malcolm (above), who reprised their ‘Sister Act’ roles and kept us all laughing throughout.
During the second half, the string group played a beautiful version of Vivaldi’s Winter, 1st Movement accompanied by the incredibly talented Kai Ogden who blew everyone away with his solo. With the help of the dedicated Ms Zembron, the staff choir earned a rousing applause with their version of We wish you a merry Christmas, and the evening concluded with all students coming together for He lives in you from The Lion King (left). The event was a perfect end of term celebration and left the audience feeling imbued with a festive spirit.
