The Charity Guild Annual Report July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026
Dear Friend, Each year, when I look back at all we have accomplished together, I am filled with an uplifting sense of hope and a feeling of profound gratitude. As a local independent nonprofit, everything we are able to accomplish is rooted in the support of our local community. Volunteers give generously of their time. Individuals, local businesses, and foundations provide the financial support and resources that sustain our work. Together, this dedicated network of people and partners allows an organization like ours to make a significant impact. Through our programs, we are able to help nearly 23,000 people in our community each year. They are our neighbors—families and children, students, senior citizens, and veterans—who turn to The Charity Guild for nutritious food and a helping hand when they need it most. For more than five decades, our community has made this work possible. With your continued support, we will be ready in the years ahead to respond to the needs of our neighbors and our community. From all of us at The Charity Guild, thank you for believing in our work, for caring for your neighbors, and for reminding us every day that Food Is Love. We continue to wish you well, and remain deeply grateful for your support.
With our heartfelt thanks, Laura C. Striese Executive Director P.S. If you have any questions about the information included here, please feel free to reach out to me at laura@thecharityguild.org.

The Ladies Philoptochos Society of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church generously makes sure our pantry has the food needed every single month.
As we are unloading the weekly delivery, I just picture the recipients cooking the chicken, carrots, eggs, and other nutritious foods we distribute, making it possible to sustain themselves and their families. It leaves me with the deepest sense of satisfaction knowing that we are working to provide that comfort. Ethel Savas, dedicated volunteer

Volunteer Roundup Leiara, 23, and Gordon, 90, have what might be considered a surprising friendship. They met when Leiara, a Charity Guild volunteer, started making home deliveries to Gordon. Now, they celebrate birthdays together, talk about their shared interests, and Leiara enjoys helping Gordon out whenever she can. A U.S. military veteran, Gordon isn’t able to get out to a grocery store or to our Main Street walkup pantry. He benefits from our home delivery program, which brings fresh food to senior citizens and the homebound about once a month.
Over time, the two have formed a friendship that goes beyond the Guild. During the heavy storms this winter, Gordon called Leiara to share his worry that if there was an emergency, no one would be able to get to him. She went over right away to shovel him out. Leiara drops by from time to time for lunch, bringing treats for Gordon’s dog and even a souvenir from her vacation to St. Croix. “He’s a very joyful person,” Leiara shared. And joy is what we all hope to share every day.
Leiara got involved with The Charity Guild over a year ago through her longtime friend Amber, Program Coordinator at The Charity Guild. At first, Leiara would drop off food for Gordon like many other homes: a smile and a wave, maybe a quick conversation. Those short conversations turned longer and longer, and Gordon and Leiara came to really look forward to their visits. “We bonded the more I would go. I work in the sheet metal union and he used to do metal fabrication, so we would talk about that,” said Leiara.

Help from The Charity Guild came at a very special time. My son-in-law was very sick, and a couple of people in the home had to stop working to take care of him. This added food was really helpful.” Home Delivery Client THE CHARITY GUILD
