We had a successful Manufacturing Month in October. Eight (8) companies hosted just over 300 students those companies were BlueScope, Crane Consumables, Deceuninck, Magellan Aerospace, Phillips Tube, Pilot Chemical, Shape Corporation and Shepherd Chemical.

Thank you for hosting students from various schools and introducing them to the world of manufacturing and the opportunities it has. Thank you to the educators of Middletown, Madison and Edgewood for their participation.

November is Healthcare Month, so I want to thank Atrium Medical Center, Ohio Living/Mt. Pleasant and Majestic Care of Middletown for opening their doors to our students to learn what a career in healthcare looks like.

As we approach the end of 2024, I would sincerely like to thank all our members who renewed their investment for this year. We’ve had a very successful year, especially with what we’ve been able to accomplish.

Please don’t forget to exercise your right to Vote on November 5.

Passport to tomorrow

Middletown High School continues to transform education through Experiential Learning Days. Students have been diving into hands-on, immersive learning experiences that connect the classroom to the real world in meaningful ways. One of the highlights so far has been the “Nightofthe MiddieDead”…. a fantastic showcase of student creativity, collaboration and school spirit.

Held at the historic Sorg Opera House, the event was a huge success. Students worked on projects that brought the night to life. The art department crafted zombie portraits, while students from Middie Common Grounds produced magnets and keychains featuring exclusive "Middie Dead" designs.

zombie costumes, adding a fun and immersive element to the event.

The “Night of the Middie Dead” was the perfect culminating event, bringing together learning, creativity and community.

I had a recent conversation with Edgewood Superintendent, Kelly Spivey, and she shared a very interesting story with me. After I heard it, I said...Ihavetosharethiswithourmembers.

Cellphones

Did you know that the State of Ohio has legislated less cell phone use in schools in order to influence study habits? Studies show the rise of the use of cell phones contributes to several related harms in the daily lives of smartphone users, including social deprivation, sleep deprivation and attention fragmentation.

Edgewood School District implemented a cell phone policy this school year where students may carry cell phones, use them on the bus, but they aren't to be out during the school day. Although discipline referrals have slightly increased, teachers are reporting that they love the increase in student engagement. Students are reporting that they have met more friends this year, than ever. This is a win for all stakeholders!

Congratulations to Edgewood School District !!
