In the spirit of the 4th of July, I’d like to spend a moment and reflect on our Founding Fathers who signed a very important document that set us on a course to build a new nation. Here is a link to refresh your memory. We are all familiar with the Declaration of Independence and the signatures at the bottom, but you may not be familiar with what happened to many of them months later. Please follow the link to learn more.

• What Happened to the Signers -

How many reading this would sign that document today? How many of you will step outside your comfort zone and become more active to improve your community? No one is asking you to pledge to each other your lives, your fortunes and your sacred honor; just become more involved. For if not now, when…..and if not you, who….? Remember, if you thinking “someone else” will do it; that “someone else” may be looking at you? It was the business community/leaders who stepped forward in 1775 & 1776 to forge a new future and give birth to a new nation. By its nature, the business community is made up of leaders who take on a leadership role from time to time. We owe a great deal of reverence to those 56 men who signed the Declaration and the hundreds of thousands who fought the Revolutionary War.

OUr Foundation

For more than 50 years, our chamber of commerce has had a 501c3 charitable foundation to help with past objectives. The foundation was created in the early 1970’s and there are conflicting stories on why and what project was their focus. Nonetheless, the Middletown Area Chamber Foundation is now doing business as The Chamber Partnership for a Brighter Future. Our focus will be on raising dollars to fund our Future Ready Workforce initiatives.
