As August arrives, it is our continued focus to build local employment/career awareness with our students. We are meeting with our local schools and setting expectations. A great majority of students never drive by many of our employers and don’t really have an opportunity to tour your facility. If you would like to get involved with our local schools, please call the office (513-422-4551) and we’ll make sure to introduce you to the correct individuals.
We are always recruiting members to endorse the Passport To Tomorrow Initiative of Middletown City Schools. Call the office (513-422-4551) to learn more.
A sincere thank you to the businesses and organizations who have already endorsed the program and who has delivered business-skill topics to students in the past.
Manufacturing Tours are in October and Healthcare Tours are in November.

Meet Michelle Scorti Peterson — New K–12 Programs Coordinator for Middletown City Schools (our new Passport To Tomorrow Liaison)
Michelle is a proud Middletown High School graduate whose heart has always been rooted in her hometown. “From the beginning of my career, my goal was to one day return to Central Office and serve the community that shaped me,” she shared.
Michelle began her journey in education teaching 5th grade at Mayfield Elementary, and later returned to the district as principal of Creekview Elementary. Now, she’s back for the third time, bringing her experience, passion, and deep connection to the community to Middletown City Schools.
A fun bonus? Michelle married her high school sweetheart, and they have two adult sons and a daughter-in-law who live in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
Michelle looks forward to meeting the chamber membership and making local connections for their students.

The Rising Storm
You can’t prepare for a storm if you don’t know it’s coming.
The US faces a shortfall of millions of workers in the decade to come. Workforce strategies need to adapt, but if you don’t know what changes lie in store, you can’t know what changes to make in response.
The disruption ahead is like a hurricane. TheRisingStormoutlines a few items to consider, providing insight on when the storm will arrive.
The news is not comforting the most acute shortages of workers will arrive in under a decade, primarily in the next five years, and the industries hardest hit are among those our society relies on most, including healthcare and construction.
