“To enhance the overall wellbeing of individuals of all ages, while preserving a sense of community through creative programs and partnerships”
Our Promise
• Create a family friendly atmosphere that is fun, safe and social
• Offer healthy lifestyle programs and activities to all ages
• Provide experiences that are welcoming and stimulating
• Be socially responsible member of the island community
Behind every program, event, and service offered at The Center is a team of passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference in our community. From our staff members who go above and beyond daily to our board of directors who guide our vision, each person contributes to the effort of creating a welcoming space for all. We are deeply grateful for their dedication, compassion, and shared belief in the mission that brings us together every day.
Thank you!
Thanks to the dedicated work of our entire Center team, I am proud to report that The Center finished another fiscal year in the black with a positive net income of nearly $35,000.
This incredible end to our year can primarily be attributed to a significant increase in support through donations and capital grants thanks to our dedicated fundraising efforts, led by our new Development Director, Jillian Ptak.
These efforts resulted in a 50% increase in fundraising revenue over the previous year, bringing in a total of $1,091,719. While total program revenue saw a slight decline due to the conclusion of Covid-era youth program grants, our financial stability has allowed us to keep providing and even expand essential services and support to the community.
Over the past year, The Center has continued to serve as a vital community hub, adapting our offerings to best support those we serve. Thanks to this increased support, we expanded programming to enhance wellness in our community for those ages 2 years old to 102. From providing accessible youth or after-school programs for children, giving them a safe and enriching space to learn and grow, to providing educational, fitness, and wellness programs, promoting health and physical well-being for members of all ages. The Center continues to offer a range of programs or classes in the arts, education, wellness, and sports, as well as enriching events, ensuring there is something for everyone in our community.
Community support such as this not only helps us operate the day-to-day tasks but also helps us evolve and pivot to add additional programs to meet the changing needs of Anna Maria Island and help The Center strengthen our mission to enhance the well-being of our entire community.
We are proud of the financial management that has enabled The Center to continue delivering on its mission and invest in the future of our community. We are also incredibly grateful for our community’s ongoing support, which makes all things possible.
Much love from The Center Team!

Chuck and Joey Lester have been the heart of The Center of Anna Maria Island for decades, leaving a lasting legacy on our community.
For over 20 years, the Lester Family Fun Day, a cherished event they started, has brought families together, embodying the spirit of community and joy that The Center stands for.
Chuck’s dedication, paired with Joey’s ongoing support, has been vital to our growth, allowing us to expand facilities, create impactful programs, and strengthen community bonds.
We honor Chuck’s legacy by continuing the work they are passionate about, ensuring The Center remains a beacon of support and joy for future generations.
As we reflect on their incredible contributions, we invite you to consider leaving your own legacy. By including The Center in your estate plans or through other forms of legacy giving, you can help secure a bright future for the generations to come.
Thank you, Chuck and Joey, for your enduring impact. Your legacy is our guiding light.

In alignment with The Center’s mission to enhance the overall well-being of individuals of all ages, while preserving a sense of community through creative programs and partnerships, we are proud to offer a variety of health and wellness programs that support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Over the past year, we have introduced and expanded services designed to help our community members lead healthier and more balanced lives.
Experience the effects of ice baths, guided by Devinne Whittaker of Devs Bevs. Ice baths can help reduce inflammation, alleviate sore muscles, speed up recovery, and even boost mental health. It’s the perfect way to reset and refresh.
Devs Bevs brings 100% organic, locally sourced fruits and vegetables for her juices and cleanses to our community. Devs Bevs plans to merge with Ted’s Breads—led by chef and head baker Ted LouLoudes—to launch DBTB Juice Bar and Bakery. This new venture will expand offerings at the Center with fresh juices and wholesome baked goods using organic flour free of preservatives and seed oils.
A deeply restorative experience for the mind and body. Yoga Nidra induces deep relaxation through breath work, vitalization, and a body scan. Followed by a crystal singing bowl sound bath, this session promotes a profound sense of peace and wholeness.
A specialized cycling class designed for those living with Parkinson’s disease instructed by Stephanie Bellil. This program supports motor function, balance, and coordination, offering both physical and social benefits for participants.
The Center of Anna Maria Island is dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and education within our community. Over the past year, we have partnered with several renowned organizations to raise awareness and provide actionable steps that our members can take to protect our local ecosystems.
provided an overview of their efforts to impact Florida’s water quality by managing water operations, advancing infrastructure projects, and spreading education on the impacts of nutrient pollution.
Gulf Shellfish Institute highlighted the benefits of vertical oyster gardens (VOGs) in enhancing marine ecosystems. Participants could take VOGs home to deploy from their docks or seawalls, while remaining VOGs were used to stock a new VOG box at The Center.
Oyster River Ecology offered the fascinating history of oysters in our area, their decline, and the promising future of large-scale oyster habitat restoration in the Manatee River and beyond. They shared insights from historical references dating back to the 1700s, when Manatee River was called the Oyster River.
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium engaged our youth program with a variety of educational programs. These included lessons on marine rescue, rehabilitation, and release efforts. These programs provided the children with a deeper understanding of marine life and the importance of conservation.
to further our environmental impact. The Center organizes monthly beach cleanups, encouraging volunteers to remove trash and debris from our shores. These cleanups not only beautify our beaches but also protect marine life from harmful pollutants.
Program has been implemented at The Center, featuring a community composting bin. This initiative encourages members to recycle organic waste, reducing landfill waste while providing nutrient-rich compost for our community garden.
encourage our community members to utilize this space and grow their own vegetables and herbs. The garden fosters a deeper connection between our members and the environment.
We are proud to educate and empower our community to take proactive steps in preserving the natural beauty of our island for future generations.

This year, our Youth Programs saw significant growth and impact. We experienced a 2.4% increase in Summer Camp attendance, welcoming over 256 children. Additionally, more than 300 kids participated in our After School programs and camps here at The Center.
Through our commitment to accessibility, we awarded $120,000 in scholarships, supporting 39 children and 21 families who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford these enriching experiences.
We were also excited to introduce new specialty camps to our Summer program: Baking, Cooking, Lacrosse, Nature Tie-Dye, Piano Lessons, Prosper Fitness, Skim boarding, Social Skills, Sun Print, and Youth Yoga, offering even more opportunities for our youth to learn, grow, and have fun.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible sponsors, devoted coaches, and amazing parents for yet another remarkable year.
