✦ I cannot imagine how one more le+er can make an impact on how you or for that ma+er another in becoming a be+er “faith-follower” but here I am trying and it is all because you ma+er to my becoming a be+er “faith-follower” and Catholic.

If truth be told there are only 3 podcasts/emails I rarely miss in a day. One of these devoKonals is yours, the other 2 are Bishop Robert Baron and Father Mike Schmitz.

I believe this is a compliment and I pray you receive it to be. I know that you are not looking for affirmaKon but how can you not be afforded such as you truly have a gi< for sharing God’s word, along with developing fellowship at a distance? I for one cannot fathom how difficult it must be to reach another through social media when there are endless clips on any one subject a person can dedicate their Kme to daily. I sense your desire to totally give of yourself to follow where the Holy Spirit is calling, without hesitaKon or doubt knowing and trusKng that God will provide.

I have not perfected this dedicaK on and I deﬁnitely praise those that have. You deserve such praise and graKtude! I on the other hand have much to learn, lengths to grow, and many human obstacles to overcome in order to truly say I am ready to be gauged by our Heavenly Father’s guidelines.

I know it is a life-long process yet without people like you, Bruce, closing some of the gaps would not be possible. If I do not express anything else I want to make sure I clarify the following, your words on a harsh day are just the right ones I need to listen to in order to regain my equilibrium and rise once again to face new challenges in a ChrisKan way, the way of truth, the way of light, the way of goodness, and most of all Christ-like.

I started listening to your daily devoKonals at the beginning of Lent 2022. I was not content being a Catholic anymore. I was Kred of the same rouKne, the same songs, and the same readings. I was looking for something diﬀerent.

One of my granddaughters was raised in a ChrisKan faith and I a+ended a few of her services with her. I enjoyed the diﬀerent music and the worshipping they did, and they all read scripture straight from the Bible.

I am 58 years old and I don't believe I ever opened a Bible unKl I started listening to you. That's when I bought a Bible just like yours so I could follow along with your readings and reread them.

I never heard of personal prayer before. You introduced that to me. The way you speak about God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit renewed my faith in the Catholic church. It's not the music or rouKne that should be the deciding factor, it's my relaKonship with God. And I do feel such a diﬀerence every week when I a+end mass because my focus is on Him and me and not all the other stuﬀ.

✦ I honestly don't remember how I ﬁrst came across Bruce Downes and his Ministry. But, I truly believe it was the Holy Spirit who led me here. He knew I needed guidance and direcKon. I was so lost and now I feel like I have that direcKon and guidance I so eagerly needed in my life. as though Bruce's ministry has opened a door for me that has led me to a deeper relaKonship with Jesus, my savior.

✦ You came up in my Facebook feed just before Lent last year. I have tuned in mostly every day since. My walk with God has become deeper and more personal in the past two years.

One day you looked in the camera directly at me and said. When you say the Our Father, say Your will be done "in me.” You then challenged me to say the prayer that way and see what it does in your life, So, I started saying the Our Father that way.

Since then I have come to know God in a diﬀerent way by changing those two words. My language is be+er, my worry is less and my trust is more. My peace is greater. I found that by giving God permission to have His will in me, it seemed eﬀortlessly these things took place in me. ✦ I learned about your Daily DevoKonals through a family member who put me on to your messages when I started going through a personal crisis about three years ago.

My journey sKll is long and arduous with no end in sight. I o<en feel despair at my situaKon and although I have always had faith, my reserves were running low and I needed my faith to be replenished. Your daily messages have given me just that li+le extra boost to keep my faith and hope strong.

What I like about your messages is that: They are succinct, with just one or two things to think about each day.

✦ I used to think I stumbled across your Daily DevoKonal broadcast, however as Kme has passed by and I made a commitment to listen to your messages every day I now believe I was “escorted” to you.

I am 69 years old and live on the border of England & Scotland, I have always been a CongregaKonal church-a+ending ChrisKan.

In 2022 a<er 2+ years of church closure due to Covid, I was looking for a Lent course I could follow.

My adult daughters a+ended church unKl they were 14, then to my sadness stopped going, even though they were married in a church.

I could write so much to you both about the teaching, awareness and comfort BOTH of you have brought to me, however, the best tesKmony came from one daughter last week who said “Mum you’re much more religious these days.” I know exactly what she means. It’s not that I’m praying incessantly, singing hymns all day, or being pious and meek. I believe I “shine” more from the inside, that I am calmer, more pleasant, and have a deeper understanding of other people. I think to myself “What would God do? What would God want me to do?”

✦ The Daily DevoKons are a constant in my life and have been for 18 months now. I listen to them as I am walking the dog, which being out in nature, is the best Kme for me to pray. I generally ﬁnd them very inspiraKonal, and someKmes they are exactly what I need to hear for the day, and the preciseness of the message for me takes my breath away.

Your messages are true to God’s word, and you are authenKc.

Being able to listen and see the episodes helps me to ﬁnd a place in my life for the 10 minutes and then have contemplaKon Kme a<er it. God’s message presented in this way seems to stay in my heart and mind more powerfully than reading a daily devoKon. I someKmes replay them to seek further clariﬁcaKon.

I also forward it to my young adult kids if I think it’s appropriate, or for Advent – I forward it to them every day. I don’t know if they listen to them or not. Occasionally I get a “Thanks Mum – that was good” but even if they don’t – I generally write a li+le sentence about why I thought it was good and what it said to me. So at least I have had the opportunity to witness to them about who God is to me. Then I have to leave it up to the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts.

✦ As a Catholic who a+ends services and follows the faith, the ﬂaw is that apart from the homily at Mass there are few opportuniKes for a more extensive and deeper exploraKon of faith and I ﬁnd that listening to your messages helps with this.

✦ Bruce, I have been watching your daily devoKonals for approx. three years now. I am a convert to Catholicism since the age if 17 and I am now 79. I had a really good protestant background of going to church and regularly praying. I thought that I knew what being a good ChrisKan was all about. Not so!

Since watching your daily devoKonals, I have learned much about forming a meaningful relaKonship with Christ and the Holy Spirit. I have never felt "Holy"or close to being so. I have seen other people who just simply look "Holy" and o<en wondered if they felt “Holy."

✦ I am not sure exactly what to say but I feel I must write in. I live in Canada. I found your Daily DevoKonals just before Lent 2022 and have listened each day since. I have introduced them to my family and some of them listen now as well. The way God speaks through you is wondrous and the faith you help show to others is astounding. I thought I had a strong faith in God and Jesus but realized I had so far to go since listening to you each day. ✦ Through the Daily DevoKonals I am developing a deeper rela K onship with God and greater understanding of the gospel. Bruce has an amazing natural way of explaining the gospel in such a way that you can not only visualise the events but more importantly understand the meaning behind the gospel. Bruce does not pretend to be anything that he isn’t. He obviously is not perfect - he tells us this regularly. His Daily DevoKonals are o<en very personal, be it Bruce describing his enduring love of Rosemary, funny or cute situaKons in life, an emoKonal or diﬃcult moment or just silly things he has done. Nothing seems to be oﬀ-limits. He is a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend - an everyday person like us (just somewhat more commi + ed than most). He feels approachable, trustworthy and caring. You can feel his honesty, his passion and love. He just makes you feel comfortable. ✦ Like many others, I discovered the ministry later in life at age 65, right before Lent. For the last two years, it has truly changed my life and brought me back to my prayer life while reminding me that I am nothing without God as the center of my life. Your daily devoKon speaks to me in ways that only God knows, and has taught me how to pray. Growing up in a catholic family, we went to Mass and Catechism and I abided by my parent's wishes, but I never really felt like I knew God. It was more out of obligaKon, as when I was very young, the Mass was said in LaKn.

In my 20s, I was blessed to work with real quality people in a Corporate work environment. The eldest in our department introduced us one by one and sponsored us to a+end a ChrisKan Renewal Weekend called Crusillo. The experience was life-changing. I had never experienced Christ in this way. It was truly life-changing. Life happened and I dri<ed again, but I always remained a ChrisKan in my heart, just not a pracKcing one, unKl I stumbled upon the ministry. There isn't a day that I don't thank God for speaking through you in ways that I can understand and hear his message. Your breakdown of scripture has led me to purchase a bible and read scripture, which was always very inKmidaKng to me because of interpretaKon. Even though my family does not join me in my journey, I see signs that they are growing through my example. For example: instead of saying "Was I lucky" I have heard them say things like "I am blessed". All Glory goes to God and I thank you for conKnuing to share his good news.

✦ I started watching your Daily Devo K onals approximately two years ago. We were in Florida at the Kme. We were "snowbirds", returning to northern Michigan for the summer months. I thought well this is good. You were giving me pointers on how to pray, not really lezng it sink in. I started sending for some of your booklets and as I read these booklets it was beginning to trigger something in me. I would be upset with my family for some reason; thinking negaKve thoughts. But the issue with them never did develop any further and I thought did Jesus really change these events? I began praying more earnestly and noKced I was not gezng so angry with my husband over minor issues and we started laughing more and our relaKonship was even stronger a<er 53 years of marriage. Well, unbeknownst to me, a larger test would present itself. Our home in Florida was destroyed on September 28, 2023, along with our car. We were devastated, shocked, angry, etc. But I conKnued to watch you every day because I knew I needed God's strength more than ever. I prayed to the Holy Spirit for guidance. And when I look back on it, I think God had a plan for us. I know this was just a material loss, but to us, it was our life for 16 years. The more important thing we lost was our friends. We are now sca+ered about, but we are slowly ge z ng back together in di ﬀ erent communiKes in Florida. We spent the winter up in Michigan. I started working part-Kme and met some very nice folks. Was more involved at church. My mom turned "100" and we were here to celebrate. But one other thing also. My sisterin-law was suﬀering from a rare disease and she passed. I was here to visit her and comfort my brother. I took one of your booklets and prayed over her.

✦ One other story, my son had stopped pracKcing his faith. I sent him your website. He called me and was very angry with me. I was so upset and crying. Well, the next day he called and said he watched you and was impressed. He went to church with us on Easter Sunday and the priest gave such a powerful homily I am hoping it reached his heart. So maybe this is a beginning for him to realize God is important in his life. I conKnue to pray for him and his family.

I have been working in diﬀerent parts of the world for the last 10 years and my wife accidentally stumbled onto your Daily DevoKonal videos on Youtube in early 2020. She introduced me to it in 2021.

✦ You and I personally talked on the phone late last year. The impact your ministry has had on my walk with Christ can't be counted. Because of your ministry messages, I took a leap and began teaching CCD 4th grade at a local parish. That happened because the class needed a teacher. I found I love it. I have also been asked to join the RCIA instrucKon crew in the fall.

While I don't consider myself Catholic, I have taken steps to get to the basic of my faith. I don't do denominaKonalism anymore because poliKcs tend to get in the way. I watch your Daily DevoKonal email messages daily. They have a tendency to hit where I need it. SupporKng and following your ministry has led me to understand what I am supposed to do with the talents God has given to me. I now have a ministry dedicated to youth program funding and have put all of my wriKng on ChrisKan Scriptural Study into the ministry as a bible study and research program.

The messages that come through your ministry changed my life in a way that can't be repaid only paid forward. When we spoke about a quesKon I had about my Protestant roots and Catholic faith, you said two things. Listen and trust. Having done both, I now trust the Holy Spirit to allow my ministry to spread the Gospel of Christ. The faith you tell us to trust in has led me to start hearing that small sKll voice. On top of this, the blessings I get from your ministry have aided me in mine and brought that special one who helps my faith as I hope I do hers.

This may not sound like much, but if it had not been for ministry messages at a point when I quesKoned my faith, I doubt God would have blessed me the way He has. Thank you. ✦ Bruce Downes brings to us the Word of God exactly where we are- There is no ﬁre and brimstone- No fancy Church or lighKng- no worldrenowned Choir, just a Ministry and team of people who bring the message of God to us in a quiet yet determined way. My faith and love of God and the Church and by the Church I mean any person who has faith and love of our Lord, His Works and His Grace.

I am 68 years young and have struggled with my faith my enKre life. Raised in the Catholic Church during a tumultuous Kme in my family life and terrifying years in a Catholic School, I blamed it all on the circumstances I was surrounded by, I did not understand that what I was lacking was Faith and I didn't even know what that meant at the Kme. "Lord Increase my faith, Lord encourage my faith. Lord help my Unbelief" Simple words that were beyond my grasp unKl The Bruce Downs Ministry.

I found Bruce on Day 2 of Lent 2022. I can count less than one hand the messages I have missed. Bruce, Rosemary, Emma, the amazing team who coordinate and produce the DevoKonals and the Responders who both post and ﬁnd Kme to help along the journey with words of encouragement have become my personal family and I look forward to opening the computer each day for the message.

I was blessed to meet Rosemary and Bruce one snowy evening in Chicago. They were doing a lowkey Meet and Greet and also a fabulous talk on what brought them to this Ministry. They Laughed, shed tears and prayed with us. I was totally tongue-Ked when I was able to have a few words with Bruce. Rosemary is also so warm and welcoming and I cherish the "terrible" selﬁe she suﬀered thru with me. A night I will always remember and I check the event calendar on the website daily for their return trip to the States, I will be there.

The areas of my faith life I struggle with (It's a forever journey) include learning to Pray, really how to Pray. Also, I have ragged lists of people I pray for once on the list they never come oﬀ Bruce has published books and essays that cover these issues and so much more. My books are dog-eared, wri+en on, cried over and well-loved. Seems whatever is on my mind, he has or comes out with exactly what my head and heart struggle with, never a charge beyond the expense of the book. He also gives away plenty! I say successful because it is on so many levels that I consider this successful. I’m not sure of the exact moment that I came across your website, but it was definitely in search of supporKng class material that I came across your site. I will tell you that ever since I saw your material, I have been watching ever since. The approach you have to teach the lessons of Jesus encourages not only myself but everyone I share your message with. The thing I like the most is the messages come at the right Kme in my life or at the exact Kme that the world needs a lesson. To give a background of myself, I am a Catechist of 15+ years, and serving as Director of RCIA in my parish, and responsible for ConfirmaKon of the Catholic youth. It’s a daunKng task to juggle so many tasks, but it is frui|ul and rewarding. ✦ For me, when you say God is with you exactly in the place where you are, has helped me through difficult Kmes. I started receiving your emails a year ago. I was inspired by your Prayer Journal idea. I started on 15th March 2022 wriKng my own prayer journal. I wrote your ideas down on post-its and these I placed in the front cover of my journal. ✦ I started following you about two years ago during Lent. I had seen some online adverts and was curious. As you were named The Catholic guy and I am Catholic from birth I was addi K onally interested.

What I have found is that ﬁrst of all it is very easy to follow you . The daily email comes in and generally your message is quite short and it ﬁts into my day. As Kme has moved on I have felt more of a connecKon to you as a person, perhaps from the familiarity of seeing you each day but I also watch some of the Heart ministry, so I have seen your wife Rosemary as well as your daughter Emma and gezng to know more about you as people.

I am o<en a li+le cauKous and skepKcal about some religious speakers, as there are many charlatans out there, but I like that you are grounded in the bible and use biblical references to support what you are saying. This helps it to feel authenKc and meaningful. As a Catholic who a+ends services and follows the faith, the ﬂaw is that apart from the homily at Mass there are few opportuniKes for a more extensive and deeper exploraKon of faith and I ﬁnd that listening to your messages helps with this.

I also like the pracKcality of your work and the suggesKons to be more acKve in this faith journey. When I can I contribute ﬁnancially but with other things such as the Turkish earthquake and the Ukraine war as well as other chariKes money is spread a li+le thin.

✦ I would like to let you know that your Daily DevoKonal Series have been an invaluable part of my life since I have moved further away from the city. It has provided me with a spiritual lifeline and mental and emoKonal support during my moving from one country town to another prior Covid entering into our lives. Well, I listened every day to your Lent series, someKmes two, three or four Kmes. O<en my husband listened also, though only because he was in bed next to me and had no choice! But I think as an unsure believer, a military man, a bloke's bloke, he likes your humble style. I wrote down what I wanted to change in my life at the start of Lent, as you suggested, and I had a Lent like no other. There were so many angry, personal problems going on in our Rugby Club and Church, and I know that your words helped me feel anchored to Christ and able not just to weather the storms but help navigate others through them.

✦ Just an Email to share what God has done in me through the Catholic Guy Ministries.

I started watching the Catholic Guy Daily DevoKonal during the COVID lockdowns in 2020. I have been a ChrisKan for over thirty years and the DevoKonals have allowed God to deepen my faith. The biggest thing God has taught me is what Bruce says at the end of each devoKonal that God is never far from you.

I o<en doubted that God was with me during diﬃcult Kmes, but through the DevoKonals, God is starKng to help me to know that at a deep level he is always with me, no ma+er what.

A breakthrough in my spiritual life occurred about a year ago. Through the years I have been on many retreats and read many spiritual books, but I have not been able to forgive my Dad for sexually abusing me when growing up.

I watched a Heart Ministry video and wrote a comment that I was struggling to forgive my Dad and Rosemary wrote back that she was praying for me and believed God would have a breakthrough in this area. A<er receiving this email I felt a so<ening in my heart and a gentleness and forgiveness for Dad, that he had been wounded and that is why he did this to me.

My Dad now has Alzheimer's and God has given me great compassion for Dad. I can remember the many, many good things he did for me and not just seeing him through the glasses as the one who abused me. Being able to send in prayer requests to the ministry and know others are praying for me has been so helpful during diﬃcult Kmes.

✦ I have been a prac K cing Catholic for 56 years. Most of those years were as a duKful weekly churchgoer and occasional holy day of obligaKon and occasional evening prayer, as the inspiraKon or need presented itself. On a few occasions, in diﬃcult life trials or health issues, I would ﬁnd myself drawn into deeper prayer to our Lord. But, in Kme, I would revert to my “normal” pracKcing of my faith.

A couple of years ago, during the Covid shutdowns, I found myself in despair over the health of my elderly Mom and the condiKon of my marriage and home life. At that same Kme, apparently, the Bruce Downes Ministries engaged in a social media adverKsing campaign. Somehow the algorithm pushed the message across my Facebook feed, and it caught my a+enKon.

I began tuning in to the Daily DevoKonals during the Lent of 2021. I slowly but surely began to feel the lord’s presence more deeply in my heart and mind each day. I surrendered my despair to Jesus and admi+ed that I did not know how to ﬁx my marriage but so dearly wanted to.

God answered my prayers and today, my marriage is stronger than ever (26 years), and I have not missed a single daily devoKonal. (I do someKmes catch up with a few in one day). My connecKon with Jesus is rich and deep and gezng deeper.

I am now an acKve parKcipant in a weekly men’s prayer group in my parish and am looking to explore other ways to share my faith in my community. I am aware now, more than ever, that I am only scratching the surface of what God is calling on me to be. I live now with a certain nervous excitement for the next chapter(s) of life in the knowledge that Christ will be traveling with me in them daily. ✦ It's hard not to say thank you to you a<er what you share with us every day. I used to listen to other religious people preaching the Bible and asked my daughter a few years back, why don't we have someone in the catholic ministry to do the same thing. She replied "Why don't you listen to The Catholic Guy" and I did on cable TV.

I tried to join at Christmas without success but since Lent, something special occurred. And I know it's God"s guidance and every Kme you preach the Gospel I feel like you want us to understand how it relates to our everyday life. We all need this. I am 74 years old and I have read the Bible without understanding it. I am so glad that you explain it clearly.

What you said yesterday regarding someone being defeated because of their children being away from God was an answer to my own struggles as I also walked away from God a few years ago and was sKll feeling ashamed of it and then You said that God was sKll looking a<er me.

✦ When I ﬁrst received a Facebook noKﬁcaKon 3 years ago from The Catholic Guy my ears pricked up. I was very skepKcal and signed up under a bogus name thinking what good could come out of this online Lent retreat.

Well, I was in for a shock. My ﬁrst Lent and daily devo K onals have been the highlight of my ChrisKan life. Bruce isn't there to entertain us, he gives pracKcal roll up your sleeves and down to earth ChrisKan theology to know our living God. One pracKcal example was when Bruce brought in his prayer chair and explained that the chair had been recovered numerous Kmes and it was his place of prayer. Turning up to pray for 15 mins a day seemed absolutely ridiculous and Bruce wanted us to ﬁnd a place and do the same and never miss. The guy is crazy, it is never going to work with my lifestyle.

However whenever Bruce ends his video each day and tells us that God is never far from you, I had to give it a go. God is never far from you - was the missing link that switched my Faith on.

I now need that wondrous Kme each day and not only 15 mins but more at Kmes. God is working and needed in my daily life. Being self employed it helps a great deal to have Jesus along for the ride. Faith, Hope, PaKence and knowing that Love never fails.

I cannot wait to grow and grow in my ChrisKan walk.

Lately I have been feeling like God is wanKng me to go back to being a catholic. My problem is there is so much about the Catholic faith I cant get my mind around but I am trying to learn. I have been in prison for 28 years now and may go home in the next couple of years and I really need to know Gods will for the rest of my life.

I believe I shine more from the inside, that I am calmer, more pleasant, and have a deeper understanding of other people. I think to myself What would God do? What would God want me to do?

A lot of my friends would be angry if they knew I was listening to your broadcasts. I'm living in Northern Ireland and I'm a protestant. I stumbled across the lent series on facebook I'm so glad I did. My heart is pained at the separaKon and troubles between Catholics and Protestants here in Northern Ireland as I have come to realize through the lent series we are all one family. God must be so grieved by our acKons here. Her acKons were full of greed, hate, negligence and revenge and I never wanted to be near such a person. I now understand her acKons can be forgiven, but sKll have consequences. I did feel the presence of God at the event and conKnued to feel God’s presence ever since. I was hoping to feel a connecKon to God and I felt his presence soon a<er you commenced talking. It was overwhelming at Kmes, almost bought tears.

✦ Last night we went to dinner with a couple of our friends. A while ago I sent the Daily DevoKonals to a lady who is in relaKonship with a devout atheist which I knew was hard for her. She worked for many years for one of the main steam Protestant churches in a very senior posiKon but le< under a cloud when she was bullied and treated badly. She does not follow her faith anymore. I knew she had a faith hidden deep within her and we had shared many Kmes about life and God.

I knew it was a risk sending your DevoKonals as her partner can be confronKng about any religion which he has had before even meeKng her a strange rela K onship, but it seems to work somehow!

Last night she thanked me and said it was just what she needed at the Kme and how listening to the DevoKonals has calmed her life and she has made peace with one family member who also was at odds with her.

Thank you, Bruce here is another instance of how God is at work in places we never know. She says she bought earbuds so she can watch quietly without insKgaKng the ire of her partner.

✦ I found Bruce on Day 2 of Lent 2022. I can count less than one hand the messages I have missed. Well, the next day he called and said he watched you and was impressed. He went to church with us on Easter Sunday and the priest gave such a powerful homily I am hoping it reached his heart.

✦ The Daily DevoKons are a constant in my life and have been for 18 months now. I listen to them as I am walking the dog, which being out in nature, is the best Kme for me to pray.

I generally ﬁnd them very inspiraKonal, and someKmes they are exactly what I need to hear for the day, and the preciseness of the message for me takes my breath away.

✦ To give a background of myself, I am a Catechist of 15+ years, and serving as Director of RCIA in my parish, and responsible for ConfirmaKon of the Catholic youth. I have tuned in mostly every day since. My walk with God has become deeper and more personal in the past two years.

Everyone ma+ers is a familiar refrain but we say "Every ‘One’ Life Counts" which holds a profoundly diﬀerent meaning. In a world where people are too o<en reduced to numbers or symbols of success, Christ calls us to see each individual as priceless and irreplaceable.

“As much as you did it to these least of these, you did it to Me.”

Ma+hew 25:40

This verse isn’t just a call to compassion. It is a reminder that every single ‘one’ life ma+ers. Whether a person is poor or wealthy, weak or strong, hidden or in the spotlight, hurKng or whole, each ‘one’ carries inﬁnite value. We are challenged to resist the temptaKon to lose sight of the one in favor of the many.

A Catholic Archbishop once posed a sKrring quesKon to us: “Show me who has come to Christ and His Church from what you have done. Tell me their names. Others tell me they proclaim Christ, but no one can tell me anyone’s name.”

It is a good, proper, and right quesKon to ask that cuts to the heart of our witness. It asks us to recognize the tangible impact of genuine encounter with Christ.

These are the stories of just a few people from the many we receive who are experiencing conversion, coming to faith, connecKng to Church and growing in an ever-deepening relaKonship with Jesus Christ.
