More than 100 residents gathered at a community meeting at Bell Park to discuss an increase in crime in Carson. The meeting was facilitated by Councilwoman
Lula Davis Holmes, Councilman Jawane Hilton, Mayor Pro Tem, Elito Santarina and Carson Sheriff Captain, Chris Marks. The standing room only crowd heard from Captain Marks as he described an upswing in auto thefts and gang
activities. He also spoke about a new law that went into effect last November reducing many felony crimes to misdemeanors. “This law has had a drastic affect on actual arrests” said Captain Marks. (see Sheriff on page 11)
