RECIPE FOR

DELIVERANCE PASTOR CHARLES OMOFOMAH

16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with the spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the Most High God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

18 And this she did many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

19 And when her master saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, Acts 16:16-19 (KJV)

When we talk about recipe, we're simply saying the direction for making something especially food or drink; a prescription; a method laid down for achieving a desired end. Deliverance is from the word “deliver” and to deliver means to liberate or set free from restraint or danger. In relation to this message, to deliver means to rescue from evil or fear. In this article, we will be looking at some truths that will help you walk in deliverance.

Any form of bondage, sickness or disease can cause fear in you.

Suddenly discovering that there is a tumour in your body can cause fear in you. Wherever there is fear, there is no faith. Fear is a higher kind of bondage much more than sickness and disease. When you can confront your fear, you can conquer the situation.

The moment Christians hear the word “deliverance”, what comes to their mind is, “Come out of him!” If somebody is not wriggling and doing all kinds of stuff, they are not sure the person has been delivered. That is a part of it but it is not all there is to deliverance. The Word of God has the ability to deliver you from any kind of bondage.

When you take in the Word of God and practice it on a consistent basis, you'll be delivered every day without even knowing it. Some may say, “For the past six months, I've not been sick and I did not even realise it”. This happens because you've been delivered without your being conscious of it.

Be Discerning The rst thing is that you need to be discerning. In verses 17 and 18 of our text, the spirit of divination said some things about Paul and Silas that were true. Apostle Paul and his team could have been carried

away. They could have said, “They have conrmed our calling”. You don't need the devil to conrm your calling, let God and His Word conrm your calling and deliverance. There are a lot of counterfeit all over the place that it is so difcult to know the difference.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are going for the counterfeit because they want the spectacular. When you watch a deliverance session taking place in your local television or on any other media platform, you see people who are being delivered shaking and doing all sorts of things, and then you say to yourself, “That is where I'm going next”.

What would you rather prefer? To be delivered without noise or to be delivered with a lot of noise? You need to be discerning. There are a lot of things that look like the original but they are not. The only way to know is if you're discerning and the only way to do this is when you are immersed in the Word of God. Paul and Silas would have had their egos rubbed when they heard the evil spirit speaking. Can you imagine coming to a place and a demon points at you saying, “Oh! This is a great man of God, you see, I've been telling you, you don't know what you have”. Even when it rubs your ego, be discerning.

Have Zero Tolerance for the Devil 18 And this she did many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Some other translations describe Paul's reaction as “greatly annoyed”. This is not the annoyance of the esh; it's something that annoyed his spirit. For some people, when they have sickness or disease that they think can't kill them, they say, “This cannot kill me, so, I can tolerate it”. Have a zero tolerance for the devil or his work no matter how minuet it is. Does the Bible say in John 8:36 that whoever the son makes free shall be free partially? No. People come to prayer line and right before your very eyes, you can see some physical challenges on their bodies; either a deformity or something else and when you ask them what the problem is or what they want to be prayed for, they say something that has nothing to do with what you can see. Their physical challenge is not a problem to them anymore.

They have learned to live with it. Never learn to live with anything that is not of God. They say, “This pain only comes at the end of the

month, after two or three days, it will go”, so they tolerate it. Don't ever tolerate the work of the devil. Come against every work of the devil with the Word of God. 40 And by the sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass, when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

Genesis 27:40 (KJV)

That phrase, “...when thou shalt have the dominion...” means when thou shall become restless, when thou shall become intolerant. As long as you're tolerant of the work of the devil, it means that you'll be under bondage and serve your brother; the sickness, the disease, the bondage and there will never be deliverance. However, when you make up your mind and say, “I will not take this anymore”, that's when deliverance comes. When something matters to you, you will spend time with that thing. For example, if you want deliverance in anyway, you will look for the Word that talks about deliverance in that way and when you spend time with the Word, your deliverance will come.

When The Carpenter's Church was still in FB hall before we moved to Greenville (our permanent location), there was this sister who came to give a testimony and right there on the spot, she gave about four or ve testimonies of how God healed her at different times either as I ministered by word of knowledge, or as Pastor Nkechi Ene (my associate pastor then) ministered by word of knowledge. I sat at the back of church that day and I wept. What bothered me was how she could tolerate these things in her body. I thank God for His mercy because most of her deliverance came through word of knowledge. She never came to any of the pastors to say I'm trusting God for this or that, she was tolerating them. Even when Christians who are about to get married nd themselves falling into the sin of fornication, they would cry, saying they will never do it again, then they go back to it in a continuous circle. They have not become restless. The day you become restless and hate that thing with a passion, you will be delivered. When we talk about deliverance, we're not just talking about sickness and diseases but all forms of bondages.

Speak To The Mountain In verse 18, Apostle Paul commanded the spirit out of the girl. You are to speak to the mountain not about the mountain. Apostle Paul would have just said, “This spirit has just been disturbing us. It's been distracting our focus”. No! Speak to the mountain, don't speak about the mountain. Mark 11:22 says if thou shall say to this mountain, not, if thou shall say about this mountain. When you speak about your mountain, it enlarges in your own eyes. I often say this, the devil was called the serpent in Genesis, by the time it got to revelation, it became a dragon. This happened through your confessions; because you're always talking about the devil chasing after you. Colossians 2:15 says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (KJV). Don't say what the devil is doing in your life, talk about what God is doing in your life. Don't enlarge your mountain, make it smaller, make it disappear by speaking to it.

Some Christians talk in such a way that you would think the devil is in charge of their lives. God is in charge of my life and God says,

“...Whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believe that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:23 (NKJV). When Jesus was on the sea and the wind was boisterous, the disciples said to Him, “Carest not that we perish? See the wind...”, and as they said that, the wind became more boisterous but Jesus not looking at the wind, spoke to the wind, “Be still” (Mark 4:39). Even Joshua in Joshua 10:12, an Old Testament saint did not speak about the problem, he said, “Sun, stand still...” You may say, “I've tried it once and it didn't work”. Try it a second time, a third time, and a fourth time. Don't give up.

When you speak, speak in the authority of the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus has power. People have great names either by it being conferred on them, by achievement, or by bestowal. Jesus got His name through all three ways. For example, I am born into the family of Omofomah, therefore, I have the name Omofomah. Then, assuming my father has a great estate and he says to me, “If you behave well, you will manage this estate but if you don't, even though you are born into the family of Omofomah you won't have it, regardless of the fact that you are the rst born”. Thank God all the things I've achieved, have represented the name of Jesus. It was conferred upon me publicly. Let me say this to you: the name of Jesus was conferred upon Him publicly. When He rose from the dead, that name was conferred upon Him. Therefore, whenever you use that name, resurrection power backs it up.

Ministering in the name of Jesus is not a thing of probability. You say, “Okay, in the name of Jesus come out. That name is not working.

Let me try by the blood of Jesus come out”. The name of Jesus has authority in the three worlds: on earth, underneath the earth and in heaven. Learn to use the name of Jesus. When you go and buy something in the market and you pay for it, you are given a receipt. If for any reason you are not able to carry it at that time and you go back later for it or you send someone else, what they will present is the receipt. Our receipt is the name of Jesus Christ. Everything was purchased for us by the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore, when you go there, you're not going to bring out the money and start explaining. You are going to present the receipt that was given to you. A receipt was given to us when Jesus triumphed over principalities and powers and that receipt was the name of Jesus. So, when we want anything, with that name we can draw whatever we want. This is also the reason why some people say they don't believe in the blood of Jesus. No. We do believe in the blood of Jesus, it was the blood of Jesus that purchased our redemption but after the blood of Jesus purchased our redemption, we were given a name or a receipt in the name of Jesus Christ. So, whenever you want to draw from what God has given to you, use the name of Jesus Christ.

Be discerning and have a zero tolerance for the works of the devil in your life. Speak with the authority in the name of Jesus to any mountain in your life and watch them melt away. Hallelujah.
