From Panic To Peace (Part 2)

It is always a delight to share God’s Word with you. Like I shared in the part one while reading a devo:onal on a certain day, this text came to mind, and as I began to read it, the Spirit of God spoke to my heart that this was an example of panic to peace. I began to look at these verses of Scripture some more and came up with the things, which I began to share with us in the first part of this ar:cle.

46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”

49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”

50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!”

52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got beXer. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever leY him.”

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.

54 This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.

John 4:46-54

Recall I said that there are points in life when you are faced with situa:ons through which fear may creep in and suddenly it becomes an uncontrollable panic. As a believer this should not describe you. We saw the nobleman was preXy much in that state, but he got his miracle. However, people in panic do not usually get

So, it means this man moved from the point of panic to a point where he could receive from God. I also showed you that to move from panic to peace you must hear the Word of God. Let us consider two more things you must do to transit from panic to peace.

You Must Believe the Word From our text, when Jesus said the people can only believe when they see signs and wonders, the man answered by calling Him “Sir.” His situa:on did not allow him remember that he was a nobleman or a boss. The :me was :cking and while Jesus was talking, he heard nothing.

50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

John 4:50

“Go your way; your son lives.” Six words and it was done! Finished!

You may wonder which Word he heard because we had earlier said the man heard the Word, but had no faith. From what Jesus said to the man, it means there is a rhema word for you to believe.

Something glorious about the anoin:ng is that it will enable you hear your rhema word. A pastor can be preaching for two hours and it could be just one statement that explodes inside a person that many others did not even no:ce. It is like a laser beam, it just targets each person and explodes inside them. That is why people’s tes:monies may be stepping stones for your faith but you may do exactly what they did and nothing will happen for you. That is why Pastor Charles and I keep saying that it is not a luxury to hear from God. You cannot be tossed to and fro by circumstances and not be able to hear from God your Father as a believer. Hearing from Him comes by spending :me in the Word, and while spending :me with the Word, the Word will spend :me with you and you will just know what to do in that circumstance.

Jesus spoke to him and faith came, and the same man who was panicking believed the Word. God’s ways are so simple, but we are

planned to do. The nobleman could have planned how he would present the case to Jesus to enable him come to heal his son but

the ones that complicate them. The Word of God is not complicated. Jesus simply had issues with the man’s ability to see problem, which was why He said, “…Unless you people see signs

when he believed, he did the opposite and went back without Jesus. This is because he was leaving with something that would take him on the journey un:l he saw what he had believed for, and that is faith! He now had faith the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). That is why

and wonders, you will by no means believe” (John 4:48).

The first dimension to the man’s ability to see was that he was reac:ng to what he had seen of his son. The second dimension to it was that the man had made up his mind that un:l he saw a change in his son, he would not leave Jesus alone as revealed in what he said the first :me. He said again, “Sir come down before my son dies” (Luke 4:49). He wanted to hold Jesus by hand to pray for his son and to see a change in him before ledng Him go. If Jesus had prayed and he did not see a change, he would not have released Jesus. When you believe the Word that comes to you, there may be nothing in the natural to show that anything has taken place. Cana and Capernaum are about 15-20 miles apart.

The man was about twenty miles away from where his son was.

There were no mobile phones or satellites, but he caught that Word and went his way with it. He believed it even when he did not know if anything had changed.

There is absolutely no connec:on between what you believe and what you see. What you see is on the outside. If he had asked Jesus to wait while he confirms before believing, it would show there was no faith and nothing would have happened in the first place; but he believed and went his way. That is why that expression, “Seeing is believing,” is against the Word of God, because you actually believe before you see. If you want to see what lines up with the Word of God, you have to believe first.

Therein is the power of faith.

How do you think this man traveled from Capernaum? Do you think he walked? No! He must have been running because up un:l he got that Word, the clock was :cking. He must have been seeing visions of how he leY his son probably pale and rolling his eyes in

Pastor Charles says, “Don’t say what you will never do; just say what you will do.”

You may say, “Why should I start buying baby things when I have not even missed my period once? I will never do that!” Then you may be locking the gate because that may just be what God would have you do to get your breakthrough. Act on the Word. If you are going to have victory in God, you have to be flexible where the Word of God is concerned. There is a balance in the Word of God. Renewal of the mind means flexibility to the Word of God. The same man that came with a plan, when Jesus gave the Word, he went his way. I guess as he went two miles, the devil may have told him that he was going home to do the funeral rites of his son and he may have faltered a bit. He wo u l d p ro b a b l y b e s ay i n g : “Shouldn’t I just go back to Jesus and be sure I understood what He meant?” Then he would have decided that he heard Him right.

When Jesus says, “Go home, your son lives,” just go home.

There is no need to delay. Just do what He asked you to do. The man simply went home! When he got home, he was told his son lives.

The reason is because there is no distance in the realm of the spirit.

As they ran to tell him, he asked what :me the child was healed and they told him it happened the day before. It means it was a long walk from where he met Jesus to his house. Some:mes, you may have a long walk, and the only thing that you are holding onto is God’s specific Word to you. That is all you need!

If God said it, that seXles it. If God said it, you can cash your miracle of concep:on and safe delivery of beau:ful, healthy

his last moments; and the devil would have suggested that he should just ask Jesus to raise his son from the dead because he probably may be dead before he got to Jesus. His speed going to Jesus was out of despera:on, but his speed going back home was out of expecta:on because he believed the Word. Believe God’s

vibrant babies on it. If God said it, it has His signature on it. That is all you need! Hear the Word. Take away your veils. Believe and act on the Word for you and the victory will be yours. That is how to move from panic to peace. That is how to have nothing missing, nothing broken. That is how you will have the peace that passes all

Word to you today and your long standing panics will vanish in the Name of Jesus.

understanding. In the face of the storm, just like Jesus, put your head on the pillow of God’s Word and sleep.

You Must Act on the Word

Let God’s Word bring about that turnaround you need in your situa:on and your life in general in the Name of Jesus!

Ac:ng out the Word gives it power. A lot of Chris:ans hear through all sorts of veils. When you believe and act on what you believe, the case is closed.
