1 Samuel 17: 41-51

43 So the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your Hlesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the Hield!” 45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have deHied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” 48 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. 50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.

In the previous article, I pointed out the need for you to conquer new grounds as a believer. God wants you to move forward because stagnation is not God’s plan for you. Irrespective of how wonderful your testimonies of yesterday were, God wants you to expect and receive even more visitations from Him. I pointed out two things that will position you to conquer new grounds. The Hirst was your mentality and the second was your method. Let’s look at more things that will help you to conquer new grounds in every area of your life.

Your Motive Matters Motive can be referred to as motivation. Your motive should be to glorify God. David said in verse 46 that all the people of the earth shall see that there is a God in Israel, the Almighty God, the covenant keeping God. Someone may want to have a big church, the question is, why do you want to have a big church? What is your motive? Some others may want to have a big school, why do they want to have a big school? What is their motivation? Yet another wants to have the best hospital, why does that one want to have the best hospital? For some, it may be to start winning contracts in millions, why do you want to win contracts in millions? What is your motivation? Is it so

that you can join the class of big boys and big girls in town? Why do you want to own a house in GRA? God is not against all that but if you want to get to GRA and the last thing on your mind is how to minister to the people, then that does not give glory to God. You may say, “If I begin to drive this car and my wife drives that car, I shouldn’t be living in just any place.” Some people wear certain kinds of dresses even though those dresses are repulsive and repelling, they still wear them because when they wear them, they are associated with certain class of people. Anything you want to get that does not primarily give glory to God is rubbish! The truth is this, if your motives are right, you will have more than enough. I want to raise the best Christians. I do not want to do it so that I become popular. I want to change lives. I want to be like David who will kill his Goliaths and giants and his men will kill giants also. They will walk through a troop and will accomplish the feat that David accomplished and much more. That is the kind of people I want to raise. I want to raise men and women who will build big schools and run them in integrity.

Your Motion Matters 8 You shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you have come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you shall stand in the Jordan.’ 9 So Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.” 10 And Joshua said, “By this you shall know
