Plan to Give to the Cancer Foundation! Planned Giving We will work with you and your professional advisor to create estate planning strategies that will preserve your charitable wishes long beyond your lifetime. Through a variety of deferred options, you and your loved ones can enjoy financial security and provide resources for northeast Georgia cancer patients for decades to come.
Bequest
Donors can specify a gift in their will or revocable trust. All assets are retained during life and the donor’s estate may receive a tax deduction for the bequest. The gift is made upon death which creates a permanent endowment fund for TCF.
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
Create a CRT, name a fund at TCF as the beneficiary, and receive an immediate tax deduction. Receive income from the gift for life or for a specified number of years, after which your TCF fund will receive the remaining assets.
IRA / Retirement Plan
If you have already created a sound estate plan that achieves all objectives and takes care of your family, using an IRA to make a current gift or a gift-by-will could avoid both income and estate taxes. And by using an IRA to establish a Donor Advised Fund, your family can remain involved in the grant making process.
Give Where You Work Many different companies allow their employees to participate in different match giving programs, which allows your employer to match your gift to the Cancer Foundation! Ask your employer there is a match giving program in which you are able to participate! Some companies with employee match giving programs: AAA, Aetna, Ameriprise Financial, Bank of America, Benjamin Moore, BP, Chevron, Citgo, Coca-Cola Company, Gap, Inc., Geico, General Mills, Georgia Power, Google, Home Depot, Merrill Lynch & Company, Morgan Stanley, Northwestern Mutual, Old Navy, Progressive Insurance, Prudential, Starbucks, Toys R Us, Verizon, Wells Fargo, Whirlpool.
For Beverly Johnson, the most challenging thing about her breast cancer diagnosis was experiencing it for the first time. She had never dealt with cancer in her family, so it was surprising getting used to the challenges and the costs. Beverly first heard about The Cancer Foundation from a social worker at University Cancer & Blood Center, and she describes he experience with the foundation as excellent. “I was most surprised that I was able to get help so quickly,” says Beverly. She is proud that there is an organization like The Cancer Foundation willing to offer a helping hand because the finances of cancer can be frightening at times when getting better is the number one priority.
Your donation will go to a very wonderful cause. It’s a blessing that stays in the local community. Beverly tells others affected by cancer not to be afraid to ask for help if you need it. To potential donors, she says, “Your donation will go to a very wonderful cause. It’s a blessing that stays in the local community.” Aside from the Cancer Foundation, Beverly has had unconditional love and support from her husband of 34 years and her three children. She loves doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches and looks forward to continuing to do these as a cancer survivor!

Pink Out Cookout
Second annual Pink Out Cookout raises over $7,500!
W
e were so fortunate this year to beat last year’s total, raising over $7,500! Pink Out Cookout was started by Kathy Timm, Lenita Franklin, Lee Malcom, and Kimberly Liebowitz as a way to benefit the Cancer Foundation’s mission to help financially devastated cancer patients who live in northeast Georgia. We decided to host a second annual Pink Out Cookout after having such an overwhelmingly positive response and turnout from the Walton County community. The businesses who sponsored, and the people and came out in support The Cancer Foundation by buying plates and raffle tickets, were unbelievable.
Lee Malcom said it best when I asked what Pink Out Cookout means to her: “After finding out my diagnosis and before my chemotherapy began, I learned about The Cancer Foundation and the assistance they offer Walton County patients. Kimberly and her staff do an amazing job. I am honored to serve with other volunteers to support this worthwhile organization. I was blessed to have exceptional insurance coverage but so many patients do not. When cancer strikes it can be detrimental financially to a family. This organization puts every dollar raised back into the patients’ needs. Our efforts are just beginning!
