This issue starts a new chapter in the history of Bicol University as I, its 8th president, take my post and promise the BU community that the best is yet to come. Yes, it is a difficult promise, but one I will strive to keep; and for as long as the BU family commits to work with me, it will not be far from realization. I therefore start with establishing our new vision, while recognizing the trailblazing efforts of past administrations in laying the foundation towards excellence. Let us now set our sights on the road towards making Bicol University “a worldclass university producing leaders and change-agents for social transformation and development.” Take this journey with me. Together, we shall reach greater heights and soar into new horizons!
Mascariñas is 45th Commencement Speaker, confirms 4,418 graduates
Bicol University held its 45th Commencement Exercises on March 28, and from March 29-31in the different campuses, graduating a total of 4,418 students. The theme of this year’s commencement exercises was “BU:Transforming emphasized their big role Lives through Quality in helping the university Education, Innovation, continually offer quality and Partnership”,with the education. “Together, we commencement speech shall transform more lives delivered byDr. Arnulfo as we make BU a world M. Mascariñas, the newly- class university producing elected president of Bicol leaders and change agents for social transformation,” he University. In his speech, said, stating the new vision Mascariñas encouraged of Bicol University under his the graduates not to detach administration. He ended his speech themselves from the university no matter where by posing a challenge to they chose to work. He the graduates, for them to
become exemplars of the university’s four pillars— leadership, scholarship, character, and service. “Make your mark in your workplace, in your immediate community, and make a difference,” he exhorted. Mascariñas /page 4
Rañosa recognized as Most Outstanding Graduate of 2015
Monico Paulo B. Rañosa, a graduate of BS Accountancy in the BU College of Business Economics and Management, was recognized as the Most Outstanding University received the Presidential Graduate of 2015 during Award for Scholarship. He is also one of the the University’s 45th Commencement Exercises, recipients of the AKB Partylist at the BU Commencement Ten Outstanding Students of Grounds last March 28, Bicol and was recognized as the Most Outstanding 2015. Rañosa graduated University Student and Most University Magna Cum Laude, garnering Outstanding a GWA of 1.297, with this he Outstanding Graduate /p4
