What made you start your own business?

I started my own business in 1993. My celebrant business, I started during the fi rst lockdown when my customer service business that worked almost exclusively with the hospitality and travel sector came to an abrupt halt. I have always spoken publicly, organised events and been interested in learning more about being a celebrant. Lockdown gave me the opportunity and time to train in the profession.

What does your business offer its customers?

The Rosy Holt Celebrant business offers its customers the occasion to make their formal ceremonies stand out, be just what they want and include everything important to them, which just might include the quirky but defi nitely wouldn’t be included in the standard scripted event. “Your voice, your choice, your ceremony”. Whether you are looking at a wedding, a vow renewal, a baby naming, a funeral or memorial or even a business celebration, I can offi ciate and facilitate to give you the event that works for you.

What kind of customers are you looking for? Are there any types of businesses you would like to collaborate with?

I am looking for customers that want something a little bit different, and who want their event to be remembered for

the right reasons. It isn’t one size fi ts all and that is what I want to showcase. I would like to collaborate with anyone organising events although wedding planners and funeral directors have to be high on my list of collaborators.

What piece of advice would you give to another business owner?

What’s the toughest part of running your business?

There really isn’t a tough part of my business. I have always enjoyed all the businesses I have run if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have been part of them, but if I have to choose something I suppose it would have to be saying “No” as we had to during the pandemic when social distancing and other regulations were in place especially at funerals, it was hard.

Keep going, be consistent and believe in yourself, if you don’t no one else will.
