by Thebsbblog
On Friday, the Psychology Council began their eventful weekend with Opening speeches- whereby the Delegate of China comments on the stigma regarding the subject of psychology in several countries and regions, especially in countries in Africa Following Opening speeches, the Council held an unmoderated caucus on whether new policies should be invented or not The Delegate of the USA questioned the Delegate of China about the mental health statistics in their country, the Delegate of China was extremely passionate and in response, commented on the fact that rates differed in each country. One Delegate mentioned that “we can’t just make women go into positions in psychology if there are still issues like unequal pay.
Men never allow women to flourish”. The Delegate of China claimed that research has been constantly stolen from female researchers by men; “Are you aware that men view women as ‘emotional’?”. On Saturday, the Council discussed the mental effects of women that had been indoctrinated by youth, along with others, into believing social norms. This has led to infanticide being extremely common in third world countries. The Council also debated about women and how they are often perceived as weak, meaning they are more often than not, excluded from the workforce, and are not offered the same opportunities as men are. This concludes the topic of gender bias in psychology, as well as in our everyday life. Lastly, the Council brought up how the menstrual cycle can affect the mental well-being of many around the world, with one Delegate concluding this with a controversial statement that having a menstrual cycle can lead to murder.
