ABOUT BRIGHTON For more than 45 years, Brighton Center has been providing the most holistic and comprehensive set of direct services to more children with disabilities and delays than any other organization in San Antonio. We are committed to setting the educational and developmental foundation for children ages 0-12 with a diagnosed disability or identified developmental delay. Brighton's programs currently include home-based therapy services, a nationally accredited and inclusive early childhood education program, free parent trainings on special education laws, and one-on-one advocacy support. From Birth through Elementary we are working hard to give children the skills and tools they need to be successful.

But we can do more. We must to do more.

Our daughter Noelani has physical disabilities and was not getting the support she needed.

We enrolled with Brighton to ensure we would get the serves we need for our 4 year old daughter. Brighton made me feel confident that she deserved and possessed the right to get the help she needs. Now I feel that Noelani can be at a level playing field as other students her age. - Analisa Spicer

LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD Brighton is launching a Campus & Program Expansion Project called "Leveling The Playing Field". The projects namesake is the exact result we expect to see at the conclusion of this project through the expansion of our campus and our services in a systematic, sustainable and repeatable way we can help "level the playing field" for children with disabilities and delays and set them up for a future that has no bounds. Services like an expanded therapy program that works with children from birth until Kindergarten, mitigating the gaps in developmental progress; offering more specialized early childhood education experiences so that Kinder-Readiness is increased; offer specialized after-school tutoring and summer programs specifically geared to work on skills that school age children with disabilities and learning disabilities need to be successful- needed to "Level the Playing Field."

This comprehensive service model for children with disabilities from birth through their early elementary years will be replicated across Bexar County so that we can level the playing field for more children with disabilities every year. As the population grows, Brighton Center will grow to ensure every child who is diagnosed gets the opportunities that their peers in our community do.

WHY IT MATTERS Kids with disabilities and developmental delays start out life with a disadvantage. Whether they were born early, born into an environment that lacks stimulation or diagnosed with a disability, they start life behind their peers. They have obstacles and barriers that their peers do not have to face. No matter when they are diagnosed, the challenges facing children with disabilities to achieve their full potential are constant. Without the right help at the right time, children with disabilities end up falling behind their peers in development, academics and life. .

THE RIGHT HELP THE RIGHT TIME Brighton Center currently has 3 programs that provides educational and developmental support to children with disabilities and delays between the ages of 0-12. This age group represents the most critical time in a child's development and how they are served during this time frame often predicts their future successes.

The "Level the Playing Field" Campus and Program Expansion project will expand on these existing programs, add new programs to serve more children and families, as well as renovate Brighton's headquarters on Higgins Rd to accommodate these growing and new programs. The Level the Playing Field project is just the first step in Brighton's 5 year vision to bring these critical early childhood services to more areas in Bexar County and meet the needs of the growing population of children experiencing disabilities and delays.
