THE BENEFITS OF TELEHEALTH

Brighton Center's Telehealth Program is the delivery of early intervention services using distance technology, typically computers, when the therapist or early intervention specialist and child and caregiver are not in the same physical location. Service providers include speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, service coordinators and early intervention specialists.

The convenience of Telehealth services will make it easier for your service providers to conduct visits more often and will make it easier for you - all you have to do is simply login!

Reduced cancellations Unlike an in-person visit, a Telehealth visit wont have to be rescheduled due to a child or family member illness or a service provider illness. In addition, inclement weather won't cause the need to reschedule either.

s t h g i r r u YoYOUR RIGHTS REGARDING TELEHEALTH The laws that protect the privacy and confidentiality of health and early intervention information also apply to telehealth. Information obtained during telehealth visits that identifies me or my child will not be given to anyone outside of this program without my consent except for the purposes of treatment, payment, and healthcare operations.

As with any internet-based communication, I understand that there is a slight risk of security breach. However, I believe that the potential benefits of telehealth outweigh this risk.

I understand that individuals other than my provider may also be present and have access to my information during the telehealth session. This is so they can operate or repair the video or audio equipment used. These persons will adhere to privacy policies.

I have the right to withhold or withdraw my consent to the use of telehealth at any time. Withdrawing my consent will not affect any future services. It will not impact early intervention benefits to which my child and I are entitled.

I have the right to inspect all information obtained and recorded through telehealth visits.

I may expect the anticipated benefits from the use of telehealth, but I understand that no results can be guaranteed.

e r a prep HOW TO PREPARE FOR A SUCCESSFUL TELEHEALTH VISIT To make sure each telehealth visit is as productive and efficient as possible, please consider the following when preparing for an upcoming telehealth appt.

prepare your environment Choose a space in your home that is as quiet as possible.

A private

room is best but not required.

Make sure there isn't glare coming from uncovered windows/doors

Have the materials for the appointment ready and identify the exact time the session will begin and end

Remove other items/toys that may be distracting including muting phones and turning off TV's, radios, other auditory/visual distractions

Test hearing devices (i.e., ensure batteries are working, have spare batteries available)

Change child's diaper/take to the toilet and if necessary, feed child before session

Think through you and your child's daily routine and plan on sharing these as well as your goals for your child for each. This will help your service provider tailor their telehealth activities to achieving these goals.

Have access to a smartphone/tablet/computer with webcam and speakers

prepare your connection Make sure a power strip is on and/or the plug is secure Turn on the computer Make sure the camera and microphone are connected and working Log off of any other programs/windows that are open on the computer. Close all other windows and tabs Make sure other Wi-Fi computers are turned off Open Google Chrome/other browser Type in the link provided by your Brighton Service Provider Have a cell phone number for service provider available if you have connection problems
