Every child should be able to write their own story...
Once upon a time... Just about every classic story follows the same basic plot. Life is going as expected but somewhere in the process of getting to “Happily Ever After” there is a journey of trial and tribulation that puts the main character in a place of unchartered waters. Soon, an unexpected hero comes to the rescue. The story ends with everything perfectly in order; just the way it was designed to be since the very beginning. This classic storyline rings true for every child born or diagnosed with a disability and/or learning delay. Their journey to “Happily Ever After” is often a bit more complicated, arduous and even more exhausting than most. But then their hero appears. Someone to come to their rescue. Someone who believes and appreciates them. Someone who sees the irreplaceable value they bring to our world. Like many real-life stories the ending might not be considered “perfect” to most, but the story is still beautiful and perfectly their own.
Through inclusive early childhood education, early intervention therapy services, and in-school support, the Brighton Center helps more than 3,800 children, ages 0-12 every year. Brighton Center empowers children to be the author of their own story and teaches a community how to embrace these characters for exactly who they are. It is in this spirit of storytelling that we invite you to join us at Brighton Center’s Best Night Ever and hear more about how people just like you have helped bring Happily Ever Afters to so many children and their families.
