Some readers may know of Mary Berry the chef who is on TV in “The Great British Bake off” She recently announced that “Croquet saved my life “ After she fell and broke her hip she was struggling to get back to normal. Her doctor told her ‘You could sit in a chair all day and do no exercise and quite probably be dead in 4 years.’ She now claims to have a new lease of life after taking up the lawn sport. Croquet literally saved her life. But Age Doesn’t Matter. At Bribie Island Croquet Club the youngest member is 47 and the oldest is 91 . To play croquet you have to think “What is the best strategy here “which is good exercise for the brain. You

have to walk the length of the courts numerous times. You are out in the fresh air rather than stuck indoors. What could be better? Whoo Hoo! What a morning the 3rd of September was!!! It was an early start, pouring rain, windy and a slippery ball did not stop our boys from taking out their GRAND FINAL against Stanley Rivers 32-10. They had been the benchmark all season and to come away with the victory was well deserved and earnt. I can't think of a group of boys who deserve this as much as they do. They have worked so hard and achieved something very special that they will remember forever. Thanks once again to Dain, James, Mason & Debbie for all you guys do, week in and week out. To all the parents for getting the boys to training and games every week. Special thanks to our club President Bob Hunter, for making the trip up to support the boys and Joan Diezmann, our Referee Co-Ordinator for also heading up to cheer the boys on.
