Our seniors pass away at home with our vet coming here so that they are not stressed and calm and we are calm with them as well so as not to get them scared with what is happening. Not many of our seniors have passed over in their sleep surprisingly but I guess that is because we see what is happening to them as they shut down, stop eating and our vet lets us know ‘not long now guys’….. We presently have 13 seniors living at the Sanctuary with us, we did have 14 up until last month when our Riley passed over with bone cancer. We have 2 more coming into care this weekend, 2 old dogs that are no longer wanted by their family. If we took every old dog that people contacted us about, we would have 150 but we cannot do that as we are a private sanctuary, we fund ourselves and do not take donations. It is our purpose.
