Out With the Old and In With the New By Lilly Soler and Sophia Miller
“Fish On!” We would say when someone caught a fish. The week of the ninth, senior camp went fly fishing down by the golf course with Jock Miller. Mr. Miller taught us how to fly fish. We started by reintroducing the trout to the stream. We moved rainbow trout and brook trout to a new habitat. While they were adjusting to their new home, Mr. Miller taught us about fly fishing. Fly fishing is a way of fishing with a rod and a wet or dry artificial fly on the end of your rod. We practiced by casting into the stream. Once we got familiar with the sport we started fishing on our own in groups of two. Some people caught fish and would say “Fish on!” After this everyone would rush over with nets and help get fish out of the water. After fighting the fish we would keep it or put it back in its home. We all had so much fun and couldn’t wait for tomorrow. The next day we did some more fishing and learned even more techniques. So many people caught fish and had tons of fun playing in the stream.
This summer senior camp has shown a great improvement from the previous years. Now you can pick many different options, and try new things that you may like. Senior camp now allows you to participate in tennis, golf, sports, and activities. After we usually do a counselor activity such as kick ball, hares and hounds, and games the counselors come up with. I think camp allows you to be independent and make your own choices. Our vision- “A home within the community where all individuals come together to build lifelong relationships, embrace traditions, have adventures, and create lasting memories” Our mission-“Come in everyday to build a safe, positive, fun, and educational summer and experience.

Newspaper written and edited by the 2018 Senior Camp Craving Camp Out! By Madison “Madi” Krom Camp Club and Senior Camp have two camp outs every year the first camp out is this Thursday and Friday. Each different age group does a different thing that night or on Friday morning. The Fishies have an imaginary camp out on Friday morning the Dragonflies camp until 10pm. Now the Bullfrogs have a real camp out and camp at Camp Club the Bears go to Paiste pond and have a night full of ghost stories and s’mores. The Senior Campers go all the way up to Metzger’s Farm and have a taste of real camping. I'm looking forward to having my own Senior Camp Out this Thursday. What I am most looking forward to is getting to make our own homemade campfire dinner by cooking makeshift pizza and s'mores.

Newspaper written and edited by the 2018 Senior Camp Dear Buck Hillers, As you can see there has been a lot of changes to Camp CLub in general but especially Senior Camp! Every week we attempt to complete a community oriented service project to help round out our involvement outside of our everyday sports or activities. This week we were asked to put our brains to work more than our bodies as we attempted to put together a small newspaper that we could give to the younger campers as well as our parents. Every day we have a million stories to tell, and this week we all took a part of our day to refine our writing skills and stretch our imagination in order to finally tell some of those stories to you! At Senior Camp we have been having a blast playing at Paiste Pond, the Golf course, the Tennis courts, and different attractions around the Poconos during trips. We hope you enjoy this small update and try out the games on page 3 & 4. Have a great week, we know we will!
