Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

My Baby Sleepology

The Breakers has established a robust partnership with Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Services - a non-profit, non-sectarian organization - to provide MHFA training to the resort’s team of managers. MHFA teaches critical communication and support skills that empower participants to identify and extend initial assistance to individuals who show signs of mental health problems—or who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

This sleep workshop, facilitated by a certified sleep expert, provides employees who are parents with various training methods for children ages infant to 5 years old. Instructors use a sleep science methodology to produce a plan to help achieve each family’s sleep goals. Participants leave with the tools needed to improve the entire family’s quality of life!

Mental Health is Everyone’s Business An extension of MHFA, this virtual training aims to make mental well-being a shared priority across The Breakers. With 1 in 5 Americans experiencing a mental health condition in their lifetime (as cited by Alpert JFS), this program raises awareness, reduces stigma, and empowers team members to support themselves and others through: • Greater understanding of mental health in work and life • Emphasis on self-care and proactive support • Tools to recognize and respond to mental health challenges By making mental health everyone’s business, we’re building a more compassionate, resilient workplace. THIS YEAR’S RECIPIENT

Each year, Be Our Guest recognizes one outstanding volunteer from the community who dedicates their personal time, energy and resources to serving others. A recipient is chosen from a selection of nominations and is honored with an all-inclusive stay at the hotel.

Day of 100,000 Meals In partnership with the Palm Beach County Food Bank, The Breakers, along with its Executive Team and Board of Directors, hosted its annual “Day of 100,000 Meals” to help feed hungry neighbors and families across Palm Beach County. The resort had more than 180 employees collectively pack 104,400 pasta dinners.

Ms. Debbie Friedman from The Literacy Coalition Debbie Friedman has volunteered with The Literacy Coalition’s Building Better Readers program for 10 years, helping over 400 children become confident readers. Her patience, positivity and dedication make her an exceptional volunteer. Beyond tutoring, she supports monthly reading events, eagerly joins new projects, and even helps organize a fundraising walk. Her compassion and commitment make her a truly deserving Be Our Guest winner.

With 1 in 8 local residents struggling to put food on the table, and 1 in 6 children going to bed hungry, The Breakers’ team mobilized to make a powerful impact - ultimately helping to feed over 25K people.

“We were grateful to partner with The Breakers for our third “Day of 100,000 Meals” packing event in observance of World Hunger Day. When companies like The Breakers pull their staff together at an event like this, it moves the needle for our hungry neighbors. We hope others will learn by their example! The energy at these gatherings is contagious and inspires other people to do good.” Jamie Kendall CEO Palm Beach County Food Bank

Local Procurement The Breakers’ culinary team is deeply committed to supporting Florida’s agricultural community by sourcing essential produce from local farms throughout the state’s growing season (November - May). This farm-totable approach ensures peak freshness and reduces the environmental impact associated with long-distance transportation. In addition to produce, the team prioritizes purchasing fresh, locally-caught seafood that is responsibly fished or sustainably farmed, reinforcing our dedication to ocean stewardship and ethical sourcing.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

Organic Herb Garden A 2,000-square-foot organic herb garden supplies a variety of fresh greens— including basil, tarragon, rosemary, and several types of mint—along with other naturally harvested ingredients for use in the resort’s 10 restaurants.

Eminence Organic Skin Care® A select partner since 2017, The Spa at The Breakers is proud to feature Eminence Organic Skin Care®. WASTE REDUCTION Clean The World

Plastic Reduction

Proper hygiene is a simple yet powerful way to support personal health and promote well-being. Since 2011, The Breakers has partnered with Clean the World to recycle partially used soaps and bottled amenities that would otherwise go to waste. These items are sanitized, repurposed, and distributed to domestic homeless shelters and underserved communities facing hygienerelated challenges. This initiative not only supports global health but also helps protect the environment by reducing waste and conserving natural resources.

Since 2020, The Breakers has reduced single-use plastics by adopting more sustainable alternatives:
