VoluntaryActionLeicester offerCreative Futures(16-24yrolds)awardinarts.Agerange extendedtoincludeemployabilityforadults.One stopshopforpeoplelookingforemployment/ training.

OnThursday10th October,binspiredhelda relaunchevent,toshowcasetherecently refurbishedGroveCommunityHub.These refurbishmentshavetakenplace,thankstoa GovernmentYouthInvestmentFundGrantwe wereawardedinSummer2023.

Localresidentsandvisitorstotheareamayhave noticedtherecentchangestoTheGrove,which binspiredhopewillassistusinourmissionto makeitahubthatotherstakeholderscanbenefit from;includingmentalhealthorganisations, youthgroups,footballclubs,dancegroups,arts andothers.

Thedevelopmentsincludeamajorupgradeof thehallanddancestudiotocreateacommunity theatrespace,aswellastheintroductionofa brand-newgamingroomand3v3basketball court.Otherupgradeswillimprovetheenergyefficiencyofthebuilding.

Therelaunchwasachancetoshowcasethe newly refurbishedGrovetostakeholders,funders andothervisitors.Dignitariesalsoattendedthe event,includingtheDeputyLordLieutenantof Leics.(MrGrahamSmith),theLordMayorand HighSheriffofLeicestershire.Theeventwasa greatsuccessandincludedpresentationsabout thefacilities,activitiesandourongoingwork,as wellasatourofthenewlymodernisedGrove CommunityHub[picsPg2]

InDecember,NigelGordon,ourFoodshare Coordinator,willbeleavingtheNeighbourhood SupportTeam.SincecomingintotheroleinSept 2020,NigelhasdonealotfortheFoodshareand localcommunity;navigatingusoutofthe pandemicandthengoingontodevelopthe FoodshareandPantryschemes.Nigelhasbeen avitalsourceofsupportformanyofthe Foodsharemembers,thewidercommunityand therestoftheNeighbourhoodSupportTeam. Everyoneatbinspired wouldliketothankNigel foreverythinghehas doneforthecommunity overthepast4years andwishhimallthebest inhisfutureendeavours.

Binspired'sNeighbourhoodSupport BaseBecomesOfficial'MentalHealth FriendlyPlace'inBraunstone

Binspired’sNeighbourhoodSupportBasehas alwaysprideditselfonbeingaplacewhere peopleinneedofsupportcangetthehelpthey need,whentheyrequireit.Inrecentyears,our GettingHelpInNeighbourhoods‘GetConnected, StayWell’programme(launched2022)and ‘BetterMentalHealthForAll’(launched2023) becameacatalystforustoachievethesegoals; includinglaunchingBraunstoneMentalHealth Network(June2024).

Althoughwehavealwaysstrivedtobeaplace thatsupportsandchampionsthementalhealth andwellbeingofpeopleinBraunstone,we wantedtoputanofficialstamponthis.That’s why,aspartofthe2024WorldMentalHealthDay, wewereproudtoannouncethatwearenowa ‘MentalHealthFriendlyPlace’.

Thismeansthatbinspired’sNeighbourhood SupportBasehasbecomeoneofalmost80 organisationsacrossLeicestershire,thatare committedtothementalhealthandwellbeingof localresidents.Inpracticalterms,itmeansour NeighbourhoodSupportTeamhavecompleted specifictraining,whichgivesustheskillsand confidencetohaveachatwithyouaboutyour mentalhealthandwellbeingandletyouknow whereyoucangoforfurthersupport.

Furtherinformationandresourcesforpeoplewho maybestrugglingwiththeirmentalhealthor thoughtsofsuicide,canbefoundonthe‘Starta Conversation’website.

ThankstofundingfromNationalGrid,binspired havebeenabletodistributeWarmPacksto vulnerablemembersofthecommunityin Braunstone.

Lastwinter,wedistributedWarmPackstopeople whoalreadyuseourservices.Thiswinter,we havebeenabletocontinuethis,butwehavenow extendedthisoffertocommunitygroupswhowork withpeopleinBraunstone,enablingthemtorefer vulnerablepeoplewithintheirnetworkstoreceive aWarmPack.

SinceOctober,wehavebeenabletodistribute WarmPacksto48households.

TheWarmPackswereputtogetherbyvolunteers frombinspired’sMen’sGroup[picsPg2].

DearFriends,

Aswemovetowardsthecolderweather,we’reall awareoftheescalatingcostofheatingourhomes. Unfortunately,thesecostsaremultipliedina churchbuilding.However,ifthatweretheonly costwewerecurrentlyfacing,itwouldn'tbetoo bad.Sadly,thisisn’tthecase.Afewweeksago, oneofourchurchboilerswascondemnedandwe arenowfacedwithabillofaround£17,000to replaceit.

Weareinvitingyoutohelpwiththismajor expense.Pleasewouldyouconsidereither lendingthechurchsomemoneyormakingagift toustomeetthisnecessaryexpenditure.Ifyou wouldliketogiveadonationandareataxpayer, youcouldincreasethevalueofyourgiftby completingaGiftAidform.

Health&Wellbeing

InOctober,BraunstoneMentalHealthNetwork metforthe3rd time.TheMentalHealthNetworkis aconsortiumofagencies,whocometogetherto discusshowtoimprovementalhealthoutcomes forlocalpeople.Thenetworkwaslaunchedin June,aspartofbinspired’s‘BetterMentalHealth ForAll’project.26peopleattendedtheOctober meeting,fromvariousagenciesacrossLeicester, LeicestershireandRutland.

Ateachmeeting,theagenciescometogetherto discussacasestudy;withthismonthsbeingfrom MentalHealthSupportTeamsinSchoolsfor LeicesterWest.

Feedbackfromthemeetingwaspositive,with participantspraisingthecasestudiesasan opportunitytoinputandcollaborate.Participants findthemeetingstobeausefulmeanstonetwork withlikemindedpeople,whoarepassionateabout supportingpeoplewiththeirmentalhealth.
