Local Updates…

An update from Blessed Sacrament…

Hand in Hand Preschool at The Oak Centre…

April sees the end of Lent, as Holy Week begins and we remember and reflect on the Passion of Christ; beginning with Palm Sunday, then Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, before we celebrate Christ’s resurrection at Easter.

On 5 May, as part of events to celebrate the Jubilee year, we’ll be walking St Wistan’s Way; a pilgrimage from Wigston to Wistow.

There’s many events happening locally, across our Diocese and nationally for the Jubilee of Hope. More info about this global year is available at Jubilee 2025.

Here’s what’s happening in Apr and May:

The Oak Centre is home to Hand in Hand Preschool.

They offer a warm, caring environment, where children can learn through play, whilst building confidence and friendships.

They have an excellent array of resources and staff are passionate about caring and supporting the children and developing their speech and language skills.

They also welcome and support children with additional needs and work closely with local authority services to help children with SEND develop to their full potential.

A parent said "Our son loved his teachers!

He’s made new friends and we’ve noticed an improvement in his language and behaviour.” We welcome all children ages 2-4yrs. If you’d like more information and to see if your child is eligible for a funded place, please email the Preschool Manager.

Weekly Friday Pop-in, 10-11.30am, Blessed Sacrament Church Hall The room is full of items for sale and you can get a tea or coffee. Everyone welcome.

An introduction to b inspired’s new Wellbeing Coordinator…

Vee Greaves recently joined b inspired’s Neighbourhood Support Team as our new Wellbeing Coordinator. Vee will be helping to shape our wellbeing services, including befriending, the men’s group and introducing new activities and support.

On starting her role, Vee said ‘I’m thrilled to be b inspired’s Wellbeing Coordinator.

With 15 years in schools and experience teaching wellbeing and self-development in a men’s prison, I’ve seen how small changes can transform lives. Wellbeing is about taking control of our health, mindset and future. I’m passionate about helping this community do just that.’
