Our Revelation Series Continues Perhaps there’s no book in the Bible that’s the object of more interest, confusion, and speculation than Revelation. Most today tend to think that Revelation is about the end of the world. While it does have references to that, it’s not primarily about the end of the world. It’s about the end of the world – as we know it. Revelation or “Apocalypse” means “disclosure” or “unveiling.” It’s an opportunity to view what’s happening in our world around us from a “press box” perspective – a perspective “above” us. Revelation invites us to the end the world – as we know it – and into a new view of things around us. How we see the world around us makes a profound difference in how we live and respond to the world around us. Come ready for a bigger picture of the way things are, and of the things that are to come. It’s the end of the world – as we know it. It’s “apocalypse.” Now.

Five Ways to Bless Your Mother by Ken Sande
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14. If you’re tired of doing the same “card and gift” routine, allow me to suggest something that your mother will remember the rest of her life. Since she devoted much of her life to serving you, I encourage you to make a special effort to SERVE her this Mother’s Day. If your mother is no longer alive, you can still honor her memory by sharing these thoughts with other members of your family. 3

of your palate and soften your voice, sending a signal of gladness she can sense miles away.

Your mother spent countless hours looking at your face as she fed, cuddled, and cared for you. Your smile always brought joy to her heart; let it do so again this week. Get face-to-face if possible, look her warmly in the eyes for a long time and let your face show how happy you are to see her. If you can’t visit in person, use a smart phone to make a short video so she can see your face as you send your greetings. If you make a phone call, smile as you dial; it will change the shape

xplore & Empathize
Mothers cherish every detail of their children’s and grandchildren’s lives, so make time for a long talk. But focus on (and celebrate) her life as well. Ask about her past (childhood, family, fond memories, achievements, life lessons) and her present.
Listen attentively for the joys, setbacks, victories, and concerns that define her life yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Connect heart-to-heart by using all of the means God has given you to show empathy. Since you may never have a chance to repeat this conversation, ask her if you can record it so you can savor her words for years to come.

Most mothers are incredibly forgiving. So they usually cover over our sins with a blanket of love. But there may be some hurts that still cloud your mother’s heart. Pray about it; ask God to bring to mind any wrong that might still linger in her memory. If He does, go to her and confess it. A few simple words are usually enough. Conversely, if your mother may be haunted by the guilt of something she did wrong, or may feel that there’s something for which you’ve never forgiven her, forgive as God forgave you, and let the peace of Christ sweep away all past offenses once and for all.

Most of us have not given our mothers even a fraction of the appreciation and admiration they deserve. Catch up a bit this week. Share some of your fondest memories of her, and thank her for specific acts of kindness. Describe the character qualities and values you’ve most admired in her and explain how you’re trying to imitate them in your life. Write these things out in a letter so she can read and reread your words, but also share them verbally so you can reinforce them with your facial expressions and tone of voice.

Words like these can “put wind under her wings” and lift her spirits every time she replays them in her mind. I hope this inspires you to look past your mother’s faults, to see the many ways God has blessed you through her, and to SERVE her without expecting anything in return... After all, that’s probably how she’s loved you more times than you can recall or imagine.

The NextGen Ministry’s mission is to partner with parents to raise up the next generation of disciples of Jesus Christ. These graduates are just that, disciples. They will always have a place here at The Branch Church, and we pray they always see this as home. However, we are extremely excited to see all the things God will do in them and through them to further the gospel of Jesus. We send them out into the world, with all the love of our congregation, to walk the paths that God has called each of them to in life. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ~Ephesians 2:10

We’d like you to know a little more about some of the organizations we support at The Branch Church. This month, we’re highlighting Touch A Life.
Founded by former Branch members Pam and Randy Cope, Touch A Life develops creative ways to bring healing and empowerment to those who are suffering, exploited, and at-risk around the world. Their primary work is in Ghana where they operate the country’s only longterm care center for child survivors of forced labor. Rachel Brown, who attends the Vista Ridge Campus with her husband James, is the Development Director for Touch A Life.
Touch A Life provides holistic customized child care for the 80 children currently in their programs, complete with regular medical and mental assessments, rehabilitation plans, and educational and vocational empowerment. They work to equip these children with life skills, traditional education, and vocational training ao they can live a full and productive life. The kids at the Touch A Life Care Center in Ghana live in dormitorystyle housing with full-time house parents and have access to healing through artistic expression at Connor Creative Art Center. After school, the kids love to play sports. Soccer, basketball, and beach volleyball are some of their favorites.
Each year Touch A Life provides a pair of Crocs to each child living at their Care Center in Ghana. They are brightly colored, durable, easy to wash, and the kids love to play sports while wearing them.
This year, The Branch Church is completely funding that project and will ensure a pair of Crocs for all 80 Touch A Life kids and their staff. We also send monthly support to Touch A Life out of our benevolence fund. If you would like to get involved with Touch A Life, we encourage you to raise support and travel to Ghana with them this August. They are especially looking for people who have a medical or dental background or have construction skills. For more information about supporting Touch A Life or traveling with them, email:

This May, in celebration of mothers all over the world, check-ins at The Branch Church will provide food for a mother and her new baby!
Every 5 check-ins provide a day of food to a mother and her child. Compassion International is the world’s leading authority in holistic child development through sponsorship. Through their Child Survival Program, Compassion has been able to help over 64,000 mothers and babies so far. The program is run in places like Haiti, El Salvador, Kenya, and Indonesia - where mothers and babies need the most help. Thanks for helping to change the lives of hundreds of mothers and their new babies.

The Branch Student Body is our ministry to 6th - 12th grade students. This is an important time of transition into maturity in Christ, and we encourage all of our students to attend and serve in our weekend services with their families. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress….” ~ James 1:27 Branch Cares is a ministry designed to look after, and take care of, people within our church body. The vision for this ministry is to reach out, help, and connect with:
Widows • Widowers • Single parents • Homebound • Grieving • Caregivers Ministry volunteers will also deliver communion to the homebound and any others who are unable to attend services.
How Do We Reach Out? One or more of our volunteer ministry members will call and/or visit the person. The ministry member will attempt to find out how the person is doing, if they have any needs (house repairs, help with transportation to the store, doctor visits, etc.), and also offer to pray for/with them if they so desire. If you are interested in becoming a Branch Cares ministry volunteer, or if you know of someone connected to The Branch Church who may be interested in having one of our ministry members contact them, you can fill out the Volunteer Application or Referral Form on our website listed below.

Single Branches Single Branches is our ministry for active widowed, divorced, and single adults who are 50+ years of age. The aim of the ministry is to provide a variety of monthly social events so that Branch singles may meet each other and build friendships. A note from Paul and Linda Barner It seems it was just yesterday we were celebrating Valentine’s Day and now we’re into May! Schools are about out, seniors are graduating, and the year’s nearly half over!!! How great was it that Chris wrapped up the study of John on Easter Sunday? We would like to acknowledge our thanks to him for his presentation of the book of John. May your Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and everyday be filled with delight and honor with your family! GOD HAS BEEN ADDING Of the early church it is said, “And the Lord added to their number …” (Acts 2:47). It was a special time of joy and fellowship. The Lord has poured out similar blessing on our Young at Heart group at The Branch. We have seen wonderful growth in the age group 60+. Our present mailing list includes 420 households, which could represent as many as 600 individuals. Paul and Linda Barner have been serving as coordinators of this ministry for about two years. They are experts at planning and bringing the Lord’s excellence to whatever the task is. YAH has three major all church gatherings each year: Valentine and Christmas Luncheons, and a Summer Salad and Sundae Supper. The attendance at these events has been growing, reaching up to about 200. The cost of the luncheons are offset by $10 (each) donations, and we always have some quality entertainment. Dave Tanner is our “star” performer. We have the finest food available, with Chris Austin and Steve Mozingo and their families as chefs. Other areas of growth (which includes our YAH folks serving so faithfully) are The Branch Cares Ministry, Men’s Life, The Start Up Group and special events held on the parking lots of both campuses.
On June 1, Rose-Mary Rumbley will give us a tour of Fort Worth. We’ll see historical downtown, the cattle drive and lunch at the stockyards, visit the Amon Carter Museum, as well as be entertained throughout the trip by Rose-Mary. If you missed the Dallas tour, you won’t want to miss this one! The bus is over half full so make your reservations now. $55 each includes a day filled with lots of fellowship and fun. We have been alerted that our DFW area will see a huge growth in population within the next five years and that by 2020, 25% of our residents will be 60 or more years old. This YAH Ministry at The Branch has a great future as we pray and reach out to these precious souls.
