Brighter Days Are Coming!

First of all, we hope all our Muslim families and friends had a blessed and joyous Eid celebration last week.

As we come to the end of the Spring term and are embarking on the Easter holidays, we hope that our Christian families and friends have a lovely Easter weekend.

To everyone in our school community, we hope you have an AMAZING Easter holiday - enjoy the break from the term time routines; relax and enjoy spending time with families and friends during this break from school. Hopefully the weather will start to improve and we can all start spending more time outside!

We know it can be difficult for some families where parents/carers have to continue working during school holidays, but if you can, get the children outside for fresh air, play and (hopefully) sunshine - it’s good for everyone’s mental health!

Have fun, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 13 April! th

Well done to all the children in the following classes, for coming to school and ensuring they have good attendance at school last week. Fantastic job!

VOMITTING&DIARRHOEA

At Rosetta, we follow Public Health’s Guidance on infection control in schools and other children settings. The document recommends that if your child has a diarrhoea and/vomiting illness, they should be kept away from school for 48 hours from the last episode. We follow this policy so that children have sufficient time to recover and sickness bugs are not spread around.

BIKES&SCOOTERS

Could all parents and carers please ensure that their children do not ride their bikes and scooters once they enter the school premises. All children must dismount their bike or scooter and walk it through the school grounds. This is to ensure the safety of all children, parents and staff when on the school site. Thank you for your co-operation.

REPORTINGABSENCE/LATENESS

ABSENCE - If your child will be absent from school, please telephone the school before 9.00am each day of sickness, to report the absence. Alternatively you can now report your child's absence via Arbor.

SCHOOLDAYTIMINGS

SCHOOL LUNCH - If your child will be late for school due to an appointment and they require a school lunch, you must telephone the school by 9.00am to book a lunch. Unfortunately, a lunch cannot be provided if you have not booked one in advance.

LATENESS - Children are recorded on the register as late after 8:45am. Where persistent lateness gives cause for concern, a meeting with the schools pastoral support team will be arranged to discuss what support can be offered.

YEAR1-THESTONEAGE

Year 1 have been learning about the Stone Age. We have been immersing ourselves into Stone Age life and have been pretending to be living in their shoes. We practised flint knapping which proved to be trickier than we imagined and we also practised making our own jewellery like they did in the Stone Age. We used clay whereas they would use stones or animal teeth/bones. It was a fun experience that the children explained they would much prefer living in the present than in the Stone Age.

Last week the children enjoyed their second week at swimming - Although it was tough at first, many progressed and developed their swimming abilities in a short period of time. In our curriculum lessons we have been learning about the Islamic civilisation and its influence in the modern day in medicine, hygiene and education. The children designed a poster on the Abbasid caliphate and the round city.

This term in Design Technology, Year 5 have been designing and creating their own Anderson shelters using only recycled materials, working over three lessons to model with clay, construct their shelters, and finally paint and decorate them. Following a clear design brief, pupils ensured their shelters were strong and stable, correctly shaped with an arched roof and entrance, neatly presented, and clearly showed how they would protect people during WW2, all while demonstrating creativity and problem‐solving. Their final models look fantastic have a look at the photos to see some brilliant examples—and next week the children will complete the design process by evaluating their work.
