Coach’s Comments

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Bill and his team for this Round 7 game in the National League.

Napier come into this game on the back of a really strong performance against Tech last week and sit on the same points as Coastal going into today’s game, they have quality and experience through out their team and will pose a real challenge for us today.

We come into the game today confident that if we turn up and perform at our best that we are more than good enough to beat anyone on our day at home. We will be looking to maintain the momentum we have gained over the last 4 games, that has seen us score 12 goals and go unbeaten.

A massive thank you to all our supporters who turn out every week I know the boys really appreciate your efforts and we will be looking to give you something to be proud of on our last home appearance of the season.

Lastly an acknowledgement to all the volunteers that make these home games possible, it’s a huge effort to bring it all together on the day, thank you for all that you do.

Captain’s comments COASTAL SPIRIT FC

We’re very excited to welcome Napier City Rovers, along with their staff and players, for our final home game of the season at Linfield Park.

Napier come into this match full of confidence after beating Cashmere Technical last week in a tight affair, so as a group we are very wary of the threat Napier will pose.

We are now over halfway through the National League and the boys are full of confidence after winning three of our last four games. Last week’s performance was an excellent all-round display and we have now set the

bar for ourselves for the remaining 3 games of the season.

A huge thank you once again to all the volunteers who make days like today possible. You do an excellent job and your work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Finally, a thank you to everyone who has come down to support us, we look forward to providing you with what should be a very entertaining game and we shall see you down in the clubrooms afterwards for a drink.

Coach’s Comments

Firstly, thank you to Coastal Spirit and all your staff and volunteers for hosting us today.

We know all too well the amount of time and energy volunteers provide to football clubs across NZ, particularly those competing over what has become a long season, so I applaud your commitment to Coastal Spirit over that time.

Despite a few years in the game in NZ, I believe this may be my first visit to Linfield Park. It’s always good to take in new venues and play against unfamiliar opposition, particularly at the top end of the domestic game in NZ.

Today promises to be an entertaining game with a valuable 3 points at stake. I bet there wasn’t many people tipping either Napier City Rovers or Coastal Spirit to be in contention to win the National League with 3 games to go, yet here we both are.

Congratulations on your season to date and all the best for the remaining few games.
