A city is my home, From the bright light at night to the buzz under the sun. A city is my home you never know it will take you from, The busy streets to the bright nights, A city is my home and you can’t change that.

She was gonna put bbq sauce on my ear. “bbq sauce?” I ask. “Well not actual bbq sauce, but we call it that because it looks like bbq sauce.” Hannah replies. She puts the barbeque sauce on my ear after putting purple“Yeah yeah I know, it’ll hurrrrrttttt!” I say to mommy, as mama walks away from me to check in at the front desk. I can't believe I'm getting my ears pierced, I've been wanting to do this for a whole year now! I’m sitting in the waiting room, with my body shaking, while my 6 year old self is questioning their entire life, “Do I really want to do this?” I ask myself in my mind. “I…don’t, it’ll hurt” I tell myself, but it’s too late, they’re calling my name… “Willa Buchanan?” Hannah says. I walk in the piercing room.
My piercing lady says “Hi, I’m Hannah, and I’ll be piercing your ears today.” I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her million tattoos and piercings. It made me kinda scared, until I heard her calming voice as she handed me a stuffed animal. She told me dots on my ear so she knows where to pierce my ears. She counts to 3 as I squeeze my parents hands and…!
OWWW!!!!!!! The needle goes through my ear, but it’s all done! That hurt so much, I look in the mirror while still crying until I realise there’s only one earring in my ear… I need to do this again!? I lay back down in the piercing chair…but she doesn't count this time… the second I lay down there isn't time to squeeze anything, not even the stuffed animal. She slides the needle in so quickly I barely even felt it.
This time when I stand up I'm barely even crying, my earrings are so cute! I tell myself, “I love them!” I said, still slightly crying. “Did it hurt?” mama asked me and mommy, the only people in our family who have our ears pierced. “Not rea-” mommy tries to say, but I interrupt her, “Yes!!!” zaps out of my mouth, “Well, it really hurts when the needle is going through and in my ear, but after it's all done for like 3, 5 minutes,
It doesn't really hurt anymore” I say slowly, tiring my parents. “Hey mMmoOoMmMmMmYyY, your earrings are so bBbOoOrRrIiINnNgGg, they’re just bBbOoOrRrIiInNnGgG grey dots, you should’ve gotten cute holographic paw prints like me.” I would say to my mom. Mama goes to the front desk “Willa Buchanan checking out” says mama. They hand me a sticker, and some saline. The people at the front desk say “tak3 a paper towel and put saline on the paper towel then put it on your ear-lobe twice a day, every day. My stomach twists, stressing. as my 2 year old part of my 6 year old self's brain kicks in, thinking i have to put saline on my ears for the rest of my life. “FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!?!?!??!?!??!” I yell loudly to the front desk clerks. “W-we might leave now!” Mommy says embarrassed, to me and the front desk clerks. Mommy and mama grab my hand and walk out of the door to the car. Mommy buckles me in, shuts the door behind her slightly lecturing me about my yelling and drives far far away to our house. “Hey Willa, how do you like your…earrings?”
