Spring 2013 www.thebizmag.biz
NOTE It’s spring Polka dots and plaid is back and the flowers are ready to the bloom, the grass is slowly turning green again and we the people are ready for some warm weather. As you know The Bizness Magazine family has taken a big step forward in expansion. We have gone to Chicago where the POLITICS is thick and the crime rate is high, but we are not afraid of the challenge or the obstacles that have come our way through this journey. We are the publication within the community that believes in everyone. We believe that there is talent everywhere and we are determined to find it. In the deep West Side of Chicago or so they call it I was able to find the hottest talents thus far to grace the stages at Mr. Browns with DJ Jay Imani on the ones and twos and at REDkiva with Mz. Jae blowing your mind poetically. Of course Hollywood, CA gave us ENVOUGE all over again through Gifted Nations and I must say these little ladies got spunk. Then the South Side of Chicago blew in a young male model that brought back the high top fade and a designer Will Larkin that is taking leather to the next level.
by Glynisha Shiel Shooting this Spring fashion spread was extremely hard as we had to work with the snow and from the 4 year old model and up each model gave us fierce quality and the photographer Jason bounced around like it was 70 degrees. We are extremely proud to still have Ryan Richards taking questions and answering them through The Bizness Magazine. Best of all of we had the amazing Sam Sarpong from MTV to the runway tell us all about the history he is making. This young man is not only amazing but he has been a true supporter of The Bizness Magazine since issue #3 and has become a role model to many men in the business taking them under his wing and guiding them like a TRUE Celebrity should do. Enjoy !!!

They say mother knows best and in this case Tyrneal Addison’s mommy was right. The little girl with dreams of being a modeling actress was redirected by her mom to be a talk show host, “my mom
suggested a much more suitable career…” Stand-
ing 5’10 only 16 years old with a personality that could entertain the dead, the dream of acting and modeling was not to far fetch. “I was 14 when my mom sparked my interest into the world of talk show host…that’s when the ground work begun…” Now at 16 Tyrneal Addison is the little lady behind
“What Girls Think”
the first TV web show for teenagers ever. “ Teens are always on the internet and now they have something productive to watch”, Tyrneal explains, making it clear that her purpose is

youth power. The show has been running since July of last year and it is a panel of teenage girls sharing their insight on the life of a girl as a young adult. Picture The View, just replace the cast with 16 to 18 year old teenage girls helping and honoring peers. Tyrneal could easily be mistaken for a 30 year old woman by phone, her tone and opinions come from a place of experience, losing her father at the early age of eight to colon cancer and having to step-up playing her mom’s righthand gal by the ripe age of fourteen she speaks with a sense of wisdom welcom-
ing the reality of sacrifice and owning the responsibility of hard work and dedication. Tyrneal Addison knows some things and she is comfortable with opening her mouth to spill the auto truth of her heart. The child in her does sneak as she tries to validate her position stating “your 16 and pregnant. I am 16 with a talk show,” might be on to something if her and her co-hosts can alter the mindset of the insecure teenage lady than I am 100 percent behind the cause. “ I use the show to not only help others however I also get healing myself…”
Tyrneal is a victim she of teenage isolation and she is taking back control sharing her vulnerability with other teens alike. It is easy to give advice but it takes some work to receive it and Tyrneal Addison is making the dishes and eating each meal as it comes. The show
“What Girls Think is bring-
ing comedy, drama and realism to a world that has been hard to reach. Who better than teenage girls to address teenage concerns?

JOBS NOT JAIL by: Natural Element
“Chicago African Americans Residents Agree” Robin Hood of Chicago brought a sense of Ed Gardner, the
pride and purpose back to his neighborhood, fighting for jobs to be taking back from the outsider and given back to the resident. Mr. Gardner has always been a business man, as the mind behind Soft Sheen Hair Products Inc. and Blackon-Black Love Campaign, and now as a South Side Chicago fan he is investing his heart and hours into ensuring that local businesses are being filled with local hands. “There are so many unemployed capable African Americans, something is wrong…” this was not just speculation, however he took notice that there was an unexplained absent of the Black construction worker in a predominately Black neighbor. Why became the question that rallied Mr. Gardner to action and calling a community to fall in line. He has charged the city to end discrimination. Whites and Hispanics are comfortably merging into the Black

neighborhoods being hired by contractors to do jobs that they are not needed to fill. The Chicago Sun-Times printed that a Cheryl Copeland, an African American woman union laborer has only nine hours of work from January to July in 2012. This woman has 19 years of experience going to waste forcing unnecessary health issues due to the lack of ability to fund her care needs because work has been given to the distant community instead of the willing residents. took a stand nearly and still managing to jump to his feet when marching for what right is the only way to fight. What exactly is the problem with the Black employee?

More money and time is being
designated to actively prevent the African American skilled labor worker from working local jobs. Ed Gardner has seen this vast difference in race worker in the fields of medicine, construction and even the manufacturing industry and he states “it is city neglect…” These fields have steel sealed doors for the African American and a swinging door for the Hispanics and Whites in Chicago; how is this possible? Ed Gardner expects more of his city government, requesting they ensure jobs be filled by its residents before any outside help is seeked. “ I hold the Mayor responsible…” It is clear that Ed Gardner will not leave the Mayor strained forced to work alone he has proved that he will offer his network and ignite the community to create more opportunity for the unemployed African American in the Chicago community. Chicago will own the vote of all residents than it should be obligated to present employment. “Roles need to be played on both parts…” Mr. Ed Gardner states, and he has played his role at least 1,000 neighbors from teachers to rebels would agree as they all stood behind him marching for respect and change. The Chicago Sun-Times noted a sign that says it all ‘Jobs not Jail’ Chicago citizens are begging for work this is something that should be celebrated not censored. Ed Gardner is leading a movement the city better be ready to move with him!

SAM SARPONG 42 Spring 2013
Super Truly is this Model by: Natural Element
Sam Sarpong has the whole world crushing like a LL Cool J throw back and I can honestly report ‘this is more than a crush.’ Just last month he changed the life of a young woman at the “Hearts of Hope” charity event all because of his giving nature. He has it stored as “the biggest compliment” and the young lady just stated with a sense of shocking satisfaction “you are so regular.” Sam proudly explained his pleasure with those words “ I am an everyday guy,
average dude…I want to do well and I want the people around me to do well…” Sam Sarpong is doing well, even better than well! The
supermodel, actor, rapper, and host is giving entertainment a heart and his fans from the UK to Hollywood are loving the beat. This Sagittarius is truly “tenacious,” as he would say. No disagreement here, whether you are talking to Sam (the heart), Future ( the life of the party), Malachi (the edgy bad boy) or lucky enough to have Sarpeizee (Sam I am Future your Malachi), right in front of you, he will grant you his full attention. This star is bright and his intellect along with his energy is being used for good. Kathleen Largen cosigns this fact, making Sam Sarpong the male face of her ‘KD Luxe Jewelry’ line saying “my line is all about being positive and good… that’s exactly what Sam represents.” You might have caught the shooting of the campaign if you were in Beverly Hills, Ca enjoying Rodeo Drive where early this year Sam and Vanessa Curry – Pussy Cat Dolls singer/actress- had positive energy heating the block. While interviewing Sam he was wearing ‘KD Luxe Jewelry’ bracelets making a mention that “yea our characters ( the jewelry line and his) represent good energy, inspiration and focus,” sounds like a balance bracelet with style. I have not come across a person yet that does not commit on Sam’s style and gracious demeanor, it is so magnetic that French designer Jean Philippe was quoted emphasizing “everything Sam becomes a part of turns into a 100 million dollar company.”
It has not been proven if it is this guys style or grace, however Tommy Hilfiger, Enyce, and Ed Hardy would not deny that the kid born in London, circulating Ghanaian blood, cultured with that Los Angeles sway has what it takes to get the world mimicking his chic. Remember ‘Boy London’ the look that Madonna can be characterized by even Boy George rocked it. It was the look of the 80s and 90s well it is still making noise and louder than ever thanks to Boy London himself, literally. Sam Sarpong was wearing this line faithfully along with his crew and it caught, now Rihanna also Nicki Minaj along with a slew of other fame finders can be seen hipping and hopping in this funky rock wear founded by Stephane Raynor. You wonder after 12 years what keeps Sarpeizee, the triple threat Sam, going.
So I asked, “ my dad and my sister…” His dad is his business manager and his sister seems to be the light always shinning at the end of the tunnel. His appreciation for their presents was more like a shout out, thanking them for giving him a sense of direction and a reliable foundation. “As kids…,” Sam tells me and you can feel this boyish smile sweep across his face as he recalls those toddler memories,
“…my sister and I both wanted to be entertainers…” His smile encouraged me to imagine his childhood in London, I instantly felt cameras rolling and a pilot ‘Color Free Dreaming’ was created by my mind, playing out the mystery of a little Ghanaian boy and his sister growing up in the UK. Sam told me how great he was blessed to even being spoiled with some youth spent in Ghana. His
sister June stayed in London with their mother, who Sam says “she is so supportive, we are as close as we possibly could be with the distance, a lot of who I am is in direct thanks to her;” while Sam dwelled at his father’s coat side on their expedition to Los Angeles. June and Sam’s childhood fantasies are now their daily embraced reality; ladies first, as June climbed the ladder of eminence and then of course the gentleman Sam followed. The struggling actor who would just visit London to reconnect with his family discovered “I’m sharing my sister with the world…” and he is now expecting his sister to do the same. Nowadays, Sam is travelling on business; this last year he was on tour and where he will be next is up in the air. The busy musician, actor, host and model is doing it all and still managing to make time to give motivational messages to children. In the middle of our interview Sam remembers a life lesson received from a stranger and immediately made a vocal mental note about how it would be a great topic for ‘The Boys and Girls Club.’ So who knows we might hear soon about the ‘I look good on the outside but I’m so wounded on the inside’ outreach dialogue for children being sponsored by Sam Sarpong. If there is a person to tell the secrets of how to stay beautiful inside and out Sam would be a great candidate for the job. The ‘regular guy’ voted one of the ’50 most beautiful people,’ the first model ever to be featured in an exhibit at the California African
the California African American Museum, the first male model to team up with iVogue; this list is ongoing. Nevertheless, Sam Sarpong remains the humble hard working, basketball playing, ‘Yo Momma’ roasting, vintage studded cat on the block out for fine clean fun. He brings his hopes and dreams to the job anchoring his will and fuelling his dedication. When you are on the outside looking in there is a candor connected to his labor that warms anyone he comes in contact with, an innocent like effort that makes you believe there is nothing this man cannot have. “Whatever I do I always want to be the best at it” and after performing the LL Cool J cover ‘I Need Love’ at R&B Live in Hollywood, CA the ladies voted Sam is giving his best. Sam is giving the industry of music his teenage years alter ego, Future, all grown up with his new album “ Muzik of tha Future” soon to be released. He brought vibes from LL Cool J who he says is “ the pioneer of rappers, love songs and hooks”, that Mary J Blige and
Common essence on the track ‘Be There’ crafting that old school rap, mixing in dance hits like ‘Loose my Mind’, electro pop which you might feel on the song ‘Fresh Kid’ for the new age youth. He did not hold back bringing in familiar sounds like Floetry his UK sisters, and Keith Robinson singer from Dream Girls, even High Priest from The Roots is on the new album “Muzik of tha Future.” Sam Sarpong is not slowing down, he even hinted about a new show soon to hit BET that will bring the “Sam” the public loved from ‘Yo Momma’ back to the screen giving him the freedom to be his authentic self. He is all over the industry acting in upcoming flicks such as, “No Weapons Formed Against Us” (May), “Trigger” (fall), a horror film“ Angel’s Landing” (TBA), and a comedy series “Average Dad” (May). Speaking of dad Sam is not a father and ladies sorry to announce that this star studded sensation is not interested in that path for now. “I am enjoying my journey” he suggested that it would be at least an-

other five years before being an Uncle and Godfather were not enough. So even though you see this chocolate supermodel swimming in an ocean of woman he confessed “I get along with girls better…I don’t know why…I’m real chill and I’m not trynna sleep with ‘em…,” he laughed as if indicating that these men battling woman relations might want to learn how to be a friend before a function. Then he said in a very sincere voice “they feel safe” I guess woman and fans alike sense a genuine spirit. The host of Ryan Seacrest’s new show AXS Live, Sam Sarpong is living in the moment one addition at a time fighting for the future he wants. “I’m going to make it my way,” a spotlight might as well have been on him when he projected this, going on further to define ‘making it’, “Success to me is a steady job, lots of money in the savings and comfortable…” comfortable he later mentioned “is when you can turn down jobs.” Right now Sam is in the zone, he is working and in his “ Life of an Entertainer” documentary you can see the behind the scenes to Samuel Osei Sarpong.
He states, “it is way more trail than ups, until you really go up.” If you missed Sam in ‘Yo Momma’ and did not see him in ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’ or was not glued to the Tommy Hilfiger advertise to the Tommy Hilfiger advertisements showcasing the supermodel and found yourself sleeping when he was awarded for MAA fashion new male model or AFI independent film award for best supporting actor as Luis in “Street King” do not sleep on him now. His UK to Hollywood

Have you ever had a fried oyster-poboy... I did and it kicked my taste buds into full throttle we (my taste-buds and I) were in heaven and the flavor danced in my mouth for the rest of the night. Then to top it off I had an Aztec chocolate 11 made with del maguey mezcal, spicy ancho chile syrup, chocolate ganache, steamed milk, salt, cinnamon. Now the key part to all of this is that everything is homemade or brought locally. If Nana can’t find the product locally she will go upstairs and make it from her own Kuala to her own chocolate that went into my drink. FUSION THERAPY by: Natural Element
Dr. Paul Jones D.N., Dr. Don Nettles D.N. and Dr. Albert Gunn D.N. partnered to practice Naprapath health care. Dr. Paul Jones D.N. took some time to talk with me sharing the benefits of Fusion Therapy which the doctors have been able to offer specialized pain relief through chiropractic, massage therapy, spa treatment services to the community at large. You will not go to the clinic and be diagnosed with a certain illness or be given prescriptions to temporarily numb any health issue. The doctors at Fusion Therapy offer homeopathic remedies, noninvasive alternatives to experience quality health as geneses in the body’s connective tissues. He explained “we
work at lowering the risk of side-effects encouraging the body to heal itself…” The
public is taking a more active interest in holistic approaches to health. For instance, “in 1993 maybe 13 billion was spent on alternative health care and now closer to 40 billion was allocated…” Dr. Jones D.N. informs me of the economic value in alternative health.
Fusion Therapy is a health clinic focusing on the mind, body, and soul of the patient giving the sick the power to heal themselves making health a choice and not just your situation. Dr. Paul Jones D.N. stated “we work with our hands to affect change…” treating people on such an intimate level is the direct opposite of the Western tradition practiced by the medical doctors (M.D.) that today’s diseased have become conditioned to idolize. Dr. Jones D.N. shared statistics like only 5-10% of the population can boast about physical fitness which is troublesome considering Kaiser’s and popular hospitals alike have been prescribing false hope for ages. Medicine has produced a dependent society and the trend of holistic health is the restoration of an independent population taking back their rights
Are drugs and surgeries the ultimate fountain of youth? Are we living in an addicted society and if so what is the root of the addiction? to health.
Call 773.643.0442 and begin the steps towards healing today.
When Dr. Jones D.N. takes 30 years of experience and commits to being a servant to our worlds health then our quick fix, drug addicted, money hungry society is suddenly a little better. “Fusion Therapy treats the whole person…” Dr. Jones D.N. stresses proudly of the contribution Dr. Gunn D.N., and Dr. Nettles D.N. offers their Chicago communi-

searching for an answer, for some cure to the endless pain that is anesthetized; this hunt lands Fusion Therapy a new client. He talks about how all contributing factors (i.e. environment) of an individual are considered, whereas, unlike the M.D., adequate amount of time is invested to open the client to a health path of healing. The care at Fusion Therapy is highly afford
able according to Dr. Jones D.N. crossing economic lines; he even hinted that all insurance companies should encourage choices and diverse care patients opt into providing coverage without judgment. “With the understanding that manifestations of the mind are experienced in the body, the use of art and music aid in the path to healing,” Dr. Jones D.N. expresses. Fusion Therapy offers massage therapy headed by Kimosha Murphy and explores a world of hands-on healing providing life style evaluations The human body is just
a puzzle of connective tissues and three doctors have come together to sooth the connections. Fusion Therapy located in Hype Park at 1525 East 53rd St. in suite 810815 less than a mile away from the University Medical Center and 2 miles from the community hospital.

Spring 2013 55 www.thebizmag.biz
Wow! So with all that’s going on in your life please keep in mind that it is all a choice. You ultimately decide where you will focus…take a step back and choose wisely.
Alright, it is time to shine…shying away from the opportunities and blessings (whether its because your truly in awe or because your simply too scared to move) not only brings you out of alignment, it hinders your productivity… Move on it Now!
Ok now is the time to allow your superior drive and ambition to take the drivers seat. Assuming you have done the work, this time should be filled with new endeavors, business opportunities and fruitful relationships. Go for it!
This is most likely the beginning or then again maybe the end of a major relationship or life pursuit. Stay level headed right now, smile and ride the wave.
You may find yourself a bit agitated and wanting more from life.. and that’s actually a good thing. Although opportunities/relationships may come easily, focus your energy more towards insuring the quality of these interactions and not so much the quantity.
You most likely see it all right in front of you and are asking…now what? You may actually find yourself manifesting so much that you’re not quite sure what to actually move on. Just know that taking things slow and steady will surely work. If you have a lot of pots on the stove, turn the fire down just a bit but definitely keep on cooking!
This is a time for doing, not debating. Go ahead and do whatever it takes for you to be able to comfortably make a decision. Move on the opportunities in front of you and think about it more a little later.
SCORPIOYou may be in for a wild ride this summer! The heightened energy during the Spring Solstice can be your best friend and/ or your worst enemy. Find the most sound and stable thing (relationship/business pursuit etc.) and get grounded in that. PICES-
Your passion and artistic expression will deffinitely come in handy this season. Channel your creativity and create exactly what it t is that you want for yourself. It’ll be easy for you to clear the way and make it happen!
Don’t be frustrated by all that seems to be calling and pulling you in different directions. All things happen in their due time. Some desires may need to mature a bit while others you will find are ripe and ready. (They may even be things that you wanted a while ago. maybe you’ve forgotten that you asked for it). Either way, use your good sense and it’ll all fall into place.
Ok so now its time to do what you said you would do…everyone and the Universe is waiting….your mantra this spring is Less Talking More Doing!
Others around you may be stuck (real or imagined) but surely your not going to let them dictate and influence your station…their stuff is not your heavy, give thanks and keep moving forward.

The Mother of all by: Natural Element
A major motivator for change is fear and this world is very afraid. What if I told you the solution is here; you will no longer have to be afraid, your sickness can be dissolved, time can be slowed and speed up with just simple steps, the power is in your hands. You can have it all, the restored American Dream. The catch is solitude, would you take it? Those of you that are saying “NO,” you might have already been taking your arranged dosage. There was a time were our world ran on the merit of people interaction. This exchange proved to bare its share of risk. One is disease. This one hazard was enough to set the world on a new course of action. Once people became aware of germs, that understanding was nurtured by fear and fear fostered panic. The idea that people can catch “something” from the unseen, that sickness could be transferred was unsettling. So minds gathered and trial and error ran its itinerary until the very popular and praised practice of vaccinations adopted as a medical trend. According to the medical dictionary “vaccination is the use of vaccines to prevent specific disease.” As always some work some do not and others evolve forcing treatment to evolve along with it. It is pretty clear that in today’s time medicine has definitely had a robotic proficiency. There are numerous explains of science
partnering with technology and presented a ‘battery operated’ version of human perfection, some even have the warning (battery not included). Knowing that limbs and organs can be upgraded to assembly line constructed colons it could be considered common sense to connect the dots between preventive measures of medicine and the role of technology. Let’s consider, based on observation, the impact that technology has increasingly at a consistent rate offered the human race. If for instance its sole purpose is to reduce outbreaks, and keep in mind that almost every “cure” introduced by scientist is followed by a scroll of side-effects. Since the earliest forms of technology like language or tools like a hammer there objective was to provide convenience and that it did. Along came electricity which is energy, now with ease, manipulated into anything we desire; light bulbs, telephones, computers, microwaves, televisions etc. This changed the word as we know it, reducing labor, adjusting social norms, limiting social face to face interaction. The expediency technology continues to offer as a result outside world is becoming less enticing and the power injected with the flick of a switch or click of a bottom is making the common cold much harder to catch. You see if you stay home, order in, shop
online, pop in your workout DVD, work from the comforts of your bedroom your germs are the only germs your expose too. Your favorite restaurant meal has been boxed and can be warmed by your handy microwave. Isolation is the cure, the newest prescription and it can be delivered to your door today! Children can attend school via some modern version of Skype.
Technology! Remember a time when doctors made house calls well thanks to the new perfect lab coat that service is soon to be the only way to see a doctor, they will video chat with you right in your home. Yes, this is better than any drug, however there still is a fair share of side-effects, nonetheless, this new vaccination limits face to face contact reducing the spread of specific illnesses. For a while now there has been a study in practice to test how the human race will react to this foreign product and the results have been bearable. There has been a green light on the project and the fear that has been plaguing the world is being eliminated with simply implanting the line of technological products in your home. This unique treatment can aid in keeping the world’s population bacteria free by containing the source, you. Any form of social pleasure is now opportunely provided for all people regardless of race, class, gender, and age. The dosage of virtual reality is self assessed and it will prevent the spread of STD’s, colds, and flu. You will not have to be concern with the spread of lice or chickenpox’s from a stranger’s home to yours. Another benefit is safety of numerous physical misfortunes, such as kidnapping, with the stay at home always pleasure pack you will always know where your child is. Discomforts passed through human physical interaction will be a thing of the pass. Today you can instantly access to your best friend, doctor, chief, mother, mistress, mate, banker, professor and so on at your fingertips. There are very few reasons to go outside so why risk it, when death and disease is likely to be on the other side of that door.
Technology is here and getting better by the hour, ‘Reality TV’ has become the new fantasy and fiction is the tale of new facts. People have been driven to fear their own species left only to enjoy the assets of the human being through cyber land. Today the normal family home is a single, just ordering for one surrounded with televisions, computers, cell phones, fax machines, scanner, printers, XBOXES and Wii’s with a microwave and a coffee maker content with a false concept of safety. If you are experiencing signs of depression, thoughts of suicide, massive migraines, infertility, sterilization, obesity, thyroid dysfunction, carpal tunnel or other motion injuries, bad vision, bad hearing, ADD, ADHD, trouble focusing, epileptic seizures due too rapid changes/ flashing lights, trouble determining fact versus fiction, desensitization to violence, altered human sexuality and cancer of any kind STOP taking
