Miss Betty Desire has been entertaining anyone who would listen in Bellingham for over 20 years, and is proprietor of The Betty Pages, the monthly publication that you are reading at this very moment. It is her hope that your perusal of the Betty Pages will enrich your life one chuckle at a time. Writer Bridget Adams currently resides in Washington State but that is always subject to change. Lucky enough to be a full-time, if poor, writer, she is most likely somewhere in front of her computer with a cup of coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

Betty’s Corner

Bellingham Pride was an awesome Betty Desire, The Betty Pages success! As far as the numbers go it was the best attended Pride ever! I had an amazing time at the all ages dance with my 10 year old granddaughter Taylor. The dance was held at The Make Shift Art space, and was attended by over 300 kids. The Betty Pages celebrated 12 years of service to the community on Thursday of Pride week with a slide show and food at Rumor’s Cabaret. Saturday was the Family Picnic; this year it was held at Blodel Donovan Park. The Sun made an appearance and Dickies Barbecue provided pulled pork and coleslaw and the Pride Committee supplied hot dogs. Over 125 hot dogs were served to the group. This year was the first time a Pride Breakfast before the parade was planned. The Home Skillet graciously offered to host the breakfast and all of the donated proceeds went to offset the cost of Pride Week. By the end of the breakfast over $2400 was raised for future Bellingham Pride celebrations. The festival itself ran like clockwork, which would surprise anyone familiar with organizing these sorts of things. The Drag Queens were on point and the live music included local popular bands that brought down the house.

So here’s to the last month of summer! Make sure you make the best of it because it wont be that long and we will all be complaining about the dreary gray clouds and lousy raining fall. Vote in the primary, pray for a miracle in the general election and be good to yourself cause the business of the fall is upon us, the kids will be back at the University and everything ramps up big time! Happy August

Bridget Adams

How was your Pride last month? I truly hope it was special. Back in June, we went to David’s first ever Pride Parade in Boston. Next month, we’re hoping to catch the Pride events in Worcester, where we currently call home. I’m starting with that question because I am doggedly determined to write a happy, uplifting, peaceful article this month. Why? Because as I’m writing it, the Republican National Convention is going on. Donald Trump has just given the American people the chance to put Mike Pence a bad cold away from the Oval Office. And the nation is still reeling from gun violence. Expect articles on all of that as both situations develop – but for now, I’m focused on something else. At least for a month. So here’s that something else, something that happened last month. The very same week I wrote this article and everything I just mentioned went down, in fact. The California State Board of Education unanimously passed a ground-breaking LGBTQ addition to the history/social sciences curriculum. Come this fall when public schools go back into session, the history, rights, and accomplishments of LGBTQ peoples will be part of the everyday curriculum. Starting in 2nd grade, students will learn about same-sex couples. By 4th grade, they’ll be learning about the LGBTQ organizations that came about as early as the 1950s. In middle school, they’ll move on the evolution of gender norms in the 18th-20th centuries – and the people who pushed back against them. By the time California public school students are in high school, they will be learning about the laws and struggles happening currently, like the fight for marriage equality and the anti-trans bathroom bills in states nationally. And the new regulations go one step further – not only are the new classrooms inclusive, anti-LGBTQ teachings are banned. There’s no exception for “religious freedom” or any attempt at being “fair and balanced.” We exist. We were oppressed. We are marginalized. We continue to fight back. We continue to contribute. We matter. There is no counter-argument. The need for this is clear. And not just because our history IS American history. But because according to a 2013 national survey, 74% of LGBTQ middle and high school students experienced verbal harassment due their orientation and identity. In schools without explicitly inclusive materials, 60% of LGBTQ students report feeling unsafe. That number drops to 30% in schools with explicitly inclusive materials. Now, I’m me, which means I look at most things with a heaping spoonful of skepticism. I am concerned that we still desperately need a Black History Month, but the history of LGBTQ people gets fully incorporated into the daily curriculum. Will this include LGBTQ people of color? Or is there going to be a white-washing? Are transmen and –women going to be truly included? Or is it going to be the history and struggle of white, gay men – which counts and is part of the story, but nowhere near the full story. I don’t mean to end on a skeptical note, and I am definitely excited about this move. It has the potential to be huge. So come on, California, don’t screw this up. The nation is watching, and we could really use some good news. Until next month, take care of you – and each other. On a personal note this Month my Son Brandon and Daughter In Law Starla exchange vows in Mexico and I was asked to conduct the ceremony. I am so honored to have that privilege. I can only hope to hold the tears back long enough to get through it. I think that they are going to write their own vows and that should allow me the needed time to regroup. I think it’s going to take place in San Jose Los Cabos, at least I hope that’s the right resort because I have booked the room for 5 days and really don’t want to be in the wrong city in a different Country. All told I think it is going to be an amazing time and I can’t recall the last time I went on a real vacation. It might have been the last Disney Land trip in 1992.

Pride 2016

Pride Parade largest ever!

Betty Desire, The Betty Pages

With 50 plus participants this year’s Bellingham Pride Parade was the largest ever. Starting in the parking lot of Habitat for Humanity, the marchers and revelers paraded down Cornwall Street following the old Blossom Time Parade route and then up Chestnut Street to Railroad and into Depot Market Square. Attendance was up as well with people lining the parade route and cheering on the participants. This year as in the past the Rainbow City Marching Band from Seattle ended the parade with a short concert in the square. Every color of the rainbow was represented in the Parade which included an amazing umbrella drill team, political groups of every stripe, church groups and service clubs, firefighters and Police, and Mayor Linvile all basking in the warm light of what is Bellingham Pride.

All Ages Dance A Smashing Success!

First Ever Pride Breakfast Powers Up Participants! The Home Skillet was the place to be on Pride Parade Sunday as the famous Bellingham breakfast and lunch eatery opened its Veranda for the first ever by donation only Bellingham Pride Breakfast. From 8am until parade start at noon revelers and participants alike were treated to the Home Skillet’s award winning breakfast fare. All monies raised were donated by the Home Skillet for future Pride celebrations. $2300 Dollars were raised! Congratulations to the revelers and thanks to the Home Skillet for their donation and participation. And because of the donations of many other Bellingham businesses, including Scott and Mary of Hammerhead Coffee, all of the 2300 in donations will go directly to Bellingham Pride! Here’s looking forward to next year being bigger cause there is no way it could be better.

Bloedel Blooms Rainbow Colors for Pride Picnic Bellingham Pride’s Old Fashioned Family Picnic was held at Bloedel Donovan Park this year and was a fun time in the sun for all attendees. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit sponsered the event and provided awesome pulled pork and coleslaw. The Pride committee provided hot dogs and in true Bellingham fashion everyone brought food to share. Congratulations and thanks to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit of Ferndale and Lynden for making the festivities fabulous!

Downtown Bars Party with Pride! Many downtown bars and business’ sported pride colors during Bellingham Pride Week. 4 Women Events held their annual pride dance at Glow and after the dance was over Pride at Glow continued. The Royal flew the flag and hosted a Pride Party and of course Rumor’s Cabaret, the anchor of the Queer community, led the way in the joyous remembrance of the Stonewall Rebellion credited with beginning the modern Gay rights movement. Downtown businesses and Bars joined in the fun many flying the rainbow Flag or building rainbow themed window displays. Bellingham did itself Pride.

Pride Week's Friday night all ages dance at the Make Shift Art Space broke records! No not the kind that Grandpa used to spin on his “record player” but the kind you find in the Guinness Book of World Records. 304 young people boogied the night away to DJ Henry and Western's radio station KUGS. This was the largest crowd at a Bellingham Pride all ages dance and the event is poised to gain more popularity in the years to come!

When you think of a Renaissance Faire, images of bodices, turkey legs and jousting come to mind. But have you ever seen a Renaissance Drag Show or a Renaissance Rocky Horror Shadow cast (live performers, along with the movie)? This year, The Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire brings you both. For the last 8 years, the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire has been held in Bonney Lake, during the first 3 full weekends of August at Kelley Farms. This year, WMRF holds the same schedule but with a few newcomers. Last season they had their first run of Renaissance RHPS, which was met with overwhelming success. Not only will they be bringing Ren RHPS back this year (Saturday August 13th @9pm) but they will be adding another new element, a Renaissance inspired Drag Show, held the first Saturday, August 6th @8:30pm. The Drag show, “Vidor’s Vixxen’s”, hosts phenomenal local performers such as: Cucci Binaca, Butylene O’Kipple, Harolette O’Scara, Athena Kiss, Lola DuVoe, Syra St. James, Indika Haze, Roxy Renee Ross and Hellen Tragedy. The idea came to Vice President, Tracy Nietupski after attending Cucci’s Cake Batter @ Papa’s Eats and Treats in Bremerton. Paying tribute to the origins of drag during the Renaissance period, Indika Haze (known as Count Vidor, master of ceremonies for the Joust at WMRF) hosts the Renaissance inspired Drag show on August 6th @8:30pm. Presenting traditional and historical drag esthetics, as well as modern drag influences, this show will be one for the books. The following weekend (Saturday August 13th @9pm), brings Renaissance Rocky Horror. Complete with neck ruffs, corsets and hoop skirts, this version of Rocky Horror is nothing like you’ve ever seen before! Following the traditional “Shadow Cast” style, WMRF’s RHPS Cast, portrays the cult classic with a mix of historical accuracy and modern flair including: Pre-Show, Goodie-Bags, Call-Backs and Audience Participation. Join their cast of performers from all over the west coast, for a RHPS experience like you’ve never had before. Along with your ticket to the evening shows, comes a pass for the day. This gives everyone a chance to experience her Majesties Joust and acts like: Broon, The Seadogs, No Parchment Needed, Cirque De’Sewer, The Dread Crew of Oddwood, The Stomp Towners, B.O.W.I., The Merry Wives of Windsor and many others! w w w. i s s u u . c o m / t h e b e t t y p a g e s

This month I am drawn to talk about the fifth card in the major arcana called The Hierophant. This card is particularly polarizing as it speaks to us on the subject of tradition, authority, and power. This particular tradition is that which we see around us in our community, in our family, our church, and in our educational system. In some older decks this card is called The Pope and the artwork supports that understanding of the authority and respect commanded by The Hierophant. Some more modern decks have undertaken to update the imagery and entitled the card by various names such as “Faith” and other means of including other traditions. In many ways this card addresses our need for safety and comfort without compromising our freedom of spirit. The Hierophant then becomes a mirror for us to examine our own individuality, strength of resolve, and integrity. When we encounter hard times or challenges that seem beyond ourselves this institutionalized authority is of particular comfort. Like the bowl of chicken soup when we’re feverish, having the support of a system which shares responsibility with us is very soothing and sometimes is necessary. At other times in our lives when we are embarking upon a new adventure, attempting to establish our own identity this very same institutionalized authority can become burdensome and difficult. Just as this traditional authority provides order in chaos, it can feel at the same time very limiting and unnecessary. One thing that makes this card particularly relevant at this point in history is the work that is going on currently in the Vatican as this very rigid and authoritarian system of governance is being challenged from many angles even from the pope himself acknowledging that change may be necessary for the survival of the body as a whole. What we are witnessing in the news is that very polarizing effect we spoke of earlier and the need to keep the good, comforting, and uplifting while relaxing some of the rigid and restrictive rules and laws. When this card comes up in a reading it’s a strong indication that there is a relationship, a strong relationship between the querent and the authority figures in their life. The other cards in the reading will provide insight as to whether this relationship is positive or challenging. The Hierophant can also indicate that the querent is actively involved in creating their own traditions and practices which will have greater meaning in their personal life. While the traditional understanding of The Hierophant is one of spiritual and religious tradition this card can also speak of other traditions in one’s life. For example if one were to embark upon a career simply because a parent had enjoyed success in that career this would set one up for disappointment and disillusion in the future. I am always curious to see what new questions come to the fore in a reading. I am convinced that better questions only lead us to better analysis. When you see The Hierophant does it feel comforting open and warm or cold, calculating, restrictive? How has the polarizing effect of The Hierophant influenced important decisions in your own life? Have you devised a way to enjoy the comfort of tradition without compromising your own individuality? My Bollywood Career : A Bibliography of Queer Cinema By Lyle Pearson

Yours wondering, but happy, Lyle _________________ From: David Curley Subject: RE: A Decision To: “lyle pearson” Date: Monday, October 31, 2011, 1:09 AM Dear Lyle, For what it is worth, my rule of thumb is, never turn down a new opportunity if at all possible. David ___________ Dear David, So now I doubt less about taking the TV series. Thank you. Lyle Within a year, the right-wing Shiv Sena (Army of Shiva) political party threatened the studios with violence if they did not stop hiring extras with only tourist visas. A time-honored entrance into short Bollywood careers is no more, its most unintentionally funny manifestation having been in the cabaret scenes of Shatki Samanta’s AN EVENING IN PARIS (1967), shot in a Bombay studio with foreign hippy chicks masquerading as Parisian chorus girls. When HOUSEFULL 2 released, the entrance to the reception and my close-up had been cut. You can barely see my face between the shoulders of the Kapoor brothers, next to Akshay Kumar. I did learn never to run with a martini glass, however--they spill too easily. A wine glass is safer. I never did here again from that TV series.

Mumbai, formerly Bombay, lies for the most part on a man-made peninsula jutting west. At a cybercafe I soon determined that the Mumbai International Film Festival would begin in three days at the Reliance multiplex, in the Infinity Mall in West Andheri. So I paid for a ‘tuk tuk’ (three-wheel auto rickshaw, based on the frame of the old Harley-Davidson motorcycle, modeled after those left in India by U. S. troops at the end of World War II) for Rs.20 to a nearby station so I could train to Andheri. I searched out the festival by bus and, at another cybercafe, found a hostel called the Anjali Inn, in East Andheri, on the opposite side of the tracks. I hired another ‘tuk tuk,’ driven by a Christian, with a statue of the Madonna on his dashboard not a Ganapati (the elephant god) or the Kabbah (the most sacred structure of Muslims). It was a wild ride, partly due to my penmanship, the Mumbai traffic, and because the Inn “couldn’t afford” a sign with its name on it. When I finally arrived I was offered a cup of tea that was immediately taken away from me when I was informed that I still wasn’t in the right place, the Inn had three locations and a car was arriving to take another foreigner for free to the airport and I could ride along to the right hostel. The second hostel, mainly dorms, was nice, air-conditioned, but I wasn’t too happy living with drunken Australians, or women from Wellesley, rather than Indians. But I adjusted. Returning to the Infinity Mall on the first day of the festival, October 13, I presented my credentials and received my press pass. The next day I saw two rather mediocre independent films, one Prashant Nair’s DELHI IN A DAY, about a clueless American having more troubles than I’d had. It wasn’t that he didn’t know how to activate an ATM card; he had brought his entire inheritance with him in cash and was surprised when in a middle-class New Delhi home it was stolen. We learn a daughter of the family stole it to pay off her boyfriend’s debts, but the mother decides that the southern servants must be publicly blamed. Having fallen in love with a servant girl, and sensing she’s not guilty, the American claims that he had simply misplaced the money, leaves a sketch of her to find, and inexplicably returns to the U.S. after only one day in New Delhi. Perhaps middle-class Indian families can be that crass, but my earlier lack of cash flow had been strictly from my own ignorance (I didn’t know what a PIN number is), and I wasn’t buying that much crassness. The second film, DEOOL (TEMPLE), in the Marathi language, a social comedy rather imitative of the Hindi film PEEPLI LIVE (PEOPLE LIVE, the name of a fictitious TV reality show), seemed grandiose for its subject. So I e-mailed a friend in the U.S. the names of all the Indian films in the festival and she suggested the one I should not miss was Jahnu Barua’s APAROOPA (a woman’s name, “Beauty Beyond Belief, 1982), a classic difficult to find elsewhere because it is in Assamese, a hill language. But APAROOPA was still four days away. That night back at the Anjali Inn, Raj (who ran it) announced that Filmistan Studios was looking for foreign extras at Rs.500 for a Hindi film starting tomorrow. I jumped at the chance; Rs.500 wouldn’t pay my Rs.750 a night Anjali bill, but how could I, a student of Indian films, miss the chance to be in one? Two weeks later, I wrote the following e-letter to a professor in Bellingham: _______________________________ From: lyle pearson Sent: Friday, October 28, 2011 11:47 PM To: David Curley Subject: A Decision Dear David, I have a decision to make, or maybe I’ve already made it, if I intend to be loyal to my Indian friends. As you know I’m here to learn more about Indian cinema, partly by following Indian film festivals around the country. However the manager of the Anjali Inn (where I am staying) received a call from a certain Mansoor that foreign extras were needed for “one of the biggest Hindi films of the year,” Sajid Khan’s HOUSEFULL 2, at Rs. 500 a day plus meals. Day one was fabulous. We (there were about forty of us from various hostels, hotels, and off the street near India Gate) had to enter into the London Burghley mansion, recreated at Filmistan, in tuxedos (called black suits here) and evening gowns, and express shock when a man [Mithun Chakrabarty, a star in art, disco, and action cinema] appeared with a shotgun on a balcony at a wedding with three prospective father-in-laws [two of them sons of Raj Kapoor, Rishi and Randhir Kapoor]. Sajid Khan liked my open-mouthed shock, probably my unruly hair, and gave me a close-up. I also on camera shook hands with both Mithun and Rishi. The second day we shot very little, but I got to know part of the social structure at the

studio, from wardrobe (same tux, but different shoes each day), and crew (intimate, liking my Hindi, but too embarrassed to show their same-sex ‘masti,’playfulness, around me), to the pool of habitual foreign extras (students, diplomats) earning much more, and the Indian extras mostly Parsi), getting something in between and much more if they had lines. Eight blond English women, imported on six-month contracts as dancing girls, held the train of the Queen of Persia, actually a diplomat’s wife. An Englishman with large ears had also been imported to pretend he was Prince Charles. The third day was exhausting, standing in bad shoes waiting for at least eight Hindi stars to get their parts right [including India’s first Levi’s model John Abraham, gay icon Akshay Kumar (Thomas Waugh’s favorite) and comedians Chukey Pandy and Johnny Lever. (There was a comedian named Johnny Walker, named after the whiskey, and Johnny Lever is named after the soap]. After the last shot a lovely Brazilian, in an off-the-shoulder gown and I sat in the twilight outside the soundstage and spoke about beer and Hindi movies. It was the highpoint of the day. Back at the Anjali that day I was surprised to hear that I had been offered one month’s work in a TV serial at Rs.4000 a day. All my friends have told me to take it, my Indian ones suggesting that I ask for Rs.5000 or I’ll look cheap, plus a week off for my plan to go to the National Film Festival in Goa. The decision is, the Kolkata Film Festival starts November 10. The TV series can’t begin yet because it stars Saif Ali Khan, who upon his father’s death became the unofficial (the title is officially abolished) nawab [or prince] of Pataudi, in the state of Bihar, and we must wait until his return from his royal duties there. I’m in Kolkata now and the local film scene is vibrant. Bengali films are running so long that the release dates of new ones have to be set back. I’m learning as much about new Bengali film as I can before my intended return to Mumbai. The most interesting Bengali film that I’ve heard about, still unreleased, is Suman Ghosh’s NOBEL CHOR, fiction on whoever stole [Rabindranath] Tagore’s Nobel Prize Medal for Literature, starring Mithun Chakrabarty. So, if that TV job is real, should I skip the Kolkata Festival? I might anger some people if I don’t. I think I’ve made my decision, but if there might a dissenting voice, it would be yours, what with your academic specialty Bengal. Some Bengali films I can still pick up at other festivals: if I skip Kolkata, I’ll still go to five. NOBEL CHOR I already missed once, in Mumbai, because of HOUSEFULL 2.

Progress is a word and concept which often comes up in queer organizing and in our social groups. It is often used in the same context as an oppression olympics, which in this case is a roundabout way of silencing the younger generations. The meaning of this word, “Progress”, suggests a frightening past, a silenced present, and a hopeful future. But if progress means 49 people dead and 53 wounded, then I yearn for a past when people like me were more often appreciated as important members of the community, even as spiritual guides in some cases. Usually, the concept of progress is weaponized as another means of silencing and controlling people in the struggle: An appeal to fears of the past, othering our predecessors as brutish, dirty, and unintelligent. Oppressive concepts and mindsets are excused as a sign of the times, while revolutionaries, even “progressives” of the past are conveniently discarded by the victors of the present.

The Comics! ~ Cat Theory ~

When one remembers the dead, remember the crises that continues to exist. Remember that it will not cease even with the increasing presence of gay and transgender elites who enforce assimilation and salivate at the thought of patriotically serving imperialism. Indeed, these problems will continue and get worse partly because of these elites. Remember that we are still here, and many are growing increasingly impatient. Every massacre of people of colour and queer people, every murder or suicide of our queer and trans siblings, every gaslighted moment, is proof that things are not better and will never be better so long as we delude ourselves with these liberal platitudes of progress. What needs to be understood is that as oppression continues, as the death tolls rise, the fewer kind and loving queers will be there to forgive these endless horrors, leaving only angry, wrathful, radical queers for society to contend with.

Okay, I’m bored now...

I’ll just manufacture little false idols of myself that the people can worship in my name!

Massacres and legislative oppression are not a reaction to the paltry reforms of gay marriage or gay and trans access to military. Nor is it a reaction to expanded, “inclusive” prisons and police, or hate crime laws, all claiming to protect us. Instead, the overt examples of oppression are happening partly because of the violence of those reforms, of the coercion and terror necessary to enforce assimilation. Most of the dead and wounded in the Orlando attack are people of colour, and were targeted in part for lacking one of the vital traits of assimilation: whiteness and white supremacy. Recent murders and suicides are not justification for more policing, reforms, criminalization, or exclusion of angry queers. These tragedies are instead examples of a failed system that primarily values queer people and people of colour by their capacity and willingness to submit to the oppression and exploitation innate to capitalism and hierarchy. The response to these deaths should not be calls for a kinder capitalism with a smiling face saying to us, “Clearance sale on your freedom! Remember Orlando with your wallet!” Instead, the responses of the radicals in our communities, the solutions talked about for many years by movement figures and icons of the community like Rivera, Feinberg, Sycamore, and Spade, should be listened to, taken to heart, and acted upon. Reforming the system that is killing us is a bit like petitioning an abusive boss to cease the abuse. Regardless of the personal reforms that boss may claim to take (if the worker isn’t fired first) the fact is that hierarchal systems in the workplace and beyond are one of the foundational causes for this violence in the first place; it will not stop until you realize this, until you listen to what we have to say and turn it into “progressive” action.

Astrology By Matt Keller

Venus 3rd Love is in the air every time ladies Luna and Venus conjoin. Leo’s born August 1st may actually be getting married, while the April 18th rams and December 20th centaurs might pop the question as well. Relationships will be difficult for Scorpio and Taurus, and it’s a squaring day if your birthday is November 20th or May 19th, get ready to fight as well. Any Aquarius claiming February 17th as their birthday can expect opposition as also. Lucky numbers: 11,23,5,27,0,22,9,24,11,15,12 Mercury 4th When the Moon aligns with Mercury her intent is to integrate your emotions into your intellect. Individuals born August 30th are most susceptible to their softer side. Along with any Taurus bulls or Capricorn rams born December 28th and April 27th. Messages will be difficult for Sagittarius, Gemini, along with Pisces. Especially aligned for bad news is the trio of birthdays November 29th, May 28th, and February 26th. You intuitively know what’s coming, prepare yourself accordingly. Lucky numbers: 12,7,29,0,22,9,24,11,15

Mars 11th The problem for Mars is he always likes to fight. This idiot starts arguments to prove superiority, and takes aggression out on undeserving individuals. Scorpio’s born November 25th need to control hostilities the most, along with anyone born February 22nd or August 26th. Bulls born May 24th are unnoticeably agitated. It won’t be until they explode before you realize their emotion. Water signs born on March 23rd or July 26th will use their energy most, even if it’s just catching pokemon. Lucky numbers: 19,0,16,7,3,24,9,11,15,12

Pluto 15th It’s time to get far, far away. Early this morning the gibbous Moon transits over Pluto, a distant 3 billion miles away. Today is meant for deep reflection on decisions significantly affecting your future. Capricorn’s born on January 6th should consider solitude the most. Easy thoughts will inspire fish and scorpion’s born on March 5th or November 7th. Aries and Libra must make difficult choices, with April 5th and October 8th the roughest birthdays. Cancer is especially pissy, watch out for those crabs born on July 7th Lucky numbers: 23,20,12,5,24,9,11,15 Neptune 19th Hazy, lazy, and dreamy, the Moon crosses over Neptune early this morning. Inspiring vivid dreams in the Pisces born on March 1st, crabs and scorpions born July or November 3rd should use these visions to their fullest as well. The Gemini born June 1st will have trouble sleeping tonight, along with Sagittarian’s born December 3rd. Today is a day to lay around and get lost in the universe, especially if your birthday is September 3rd. Lucky numbers: 27,15,24,17,7,25,9,11,12 Uranus 22nd It’s not my anus, it’s not our anus, it’s Uranus the Moon is crossing tonight, and the results can be quite astonishing. The Aries born April 14th can expect excitement, along with fellow fire signs born August 17th or December 16th. Crabs born July 16th and Capricorns born January 15th will have a squaring day, and any Libra born October 17th can expect significant outside forces working against them. “Expect the unexpected” is the oldest cliché in the astrological book when describing Uranus. Simply put, brace yourself. Lucky numbers: 0,28,26,21,9,24,10,15,12

Monthly overview August is one of the best star gazing months in years. On the 4th Venus finally becomes an evening star, visible for around an hour, about thirty minutes after sunset. Jupiter has been in sight for long time, and Mercury poked his head in the mix back in late July. Making the 4th extra special will be the crescent Moon allowing you to spot the trio easily. Find the sliver that night and the three stars closest by are actually planets. The 5th brings us a wonderful sight as well, except tonight the Moon exactly aligns with Jupiter. Venus and Mercury will be on the right with Jupiter hovering around a degree or two. Once again this is only viewable for a brief period shortly after sunset. From the 19th24th the M/V/J trio forms a triangle in the Western horizon. Mercury eventually conjoins Jupiter on the 22nd with Venus aligning the 27th. The Moon separates, but the planets are visible throughout summer. The Perseid meteor shower rains upon us most of August. Beginning earlier on July 17th, this yearly downpour reaches it’s peak between the 11th and 13th. At 100 meteors an hour, you’re almost guaranteed to spot a few. The Moon transits above Mars on the 11th, setting at 1:00 am. Look into the constellation Perseus for the most meteors. Spiritually, the new Moon on August 2nd is the best day to emotionally align yourself, with Aquarian’s born February 7th needing chakra’s adjusted most. The full Moon on the 18th is going to make Aquarius flip out again, except it’s going to be someone born near Valentine’s day. The square Moon on the 10th and 24th will be testing emotions of Scorpio and Gemini. Scorpion’s born on November 10th, and those crazy bugger’s born May 21 need to get ready for something. Ghosts and space aliens are always out there for these dates and I suggest the squares for chasing Bigfoot or Sasquatch. If you see an owl smelling like cinnamon watch out for those grey alien bastards cause you’re about to get abducted. Wearing Sapphire or Amethyst will help ward off negative energies.

Jupiter 5th This transit awakens spirituality buried deep within our psyche. Other than Virgo’s born September 16th, Earth signs of Taurus and Capricorn are waking up as well. The powers of Jupiter are very expansive, producing wonderful things from anywhere in the solar system. Individuals with the following birthdays need to keep their eyes peeled, sometimes the very subtle universe is trying to tell you something. November 15th, July 16th, December 15th, June 14th, January 14th, March 14th, February 12th, April 13th, and May 14th. Lucky numbers: 13,18,8,0,1,22,9,24,11,15,12

Saturn 12th The biggest problem when the Moon crosses over Saturn is the depression it usually brings. Today you’re thinking about responsibility, and if things are in line, life is calm and mellow, but if not. Fire signs are experiencing the most spiritual reformation, with December 1st, March 29th, and August 1st, changing dramatically. Anyone born February 28th or November 1st might even quit their job or get fired. Calm down Gemini, go see a psychologist if your birthday is May 30th. Lucky numbers: 20,12,17,8,4,24,9,11,15,12
