“I mean it’s quite simple you should be more a are of negative Energy.”

Leading us into the conversation “my art means way more to me than what you guys would think. This is something I put hard work and dedication into...” passionately he completed with “so I’ll be damn if I let it be stripped away or looked at less than what it is.” While also informing us of his definition of “Success to me is completing the goals I have set for myself and wiping them off my board. Success is me finally living the true whole life that I painted for myself.”

A legend to some introducing to all others, our next March feature, D’onQuay McAllister. We began the interview off by asking him to pick either “gifted” or “talented”, and he said “Talented... I’ll say talented because that specific word has no set level to it. Everyone has their own special talent whether it’s an internal talent or external talent.”

Getting into these industries we don’t always have the easiest ways in so we have to grind and learn and hustle through. We asked D’onQuay, what is something you wish you would’ve known, which he said “ I’m not gonna say I did not know but I know that you only live once. When it comes to opportunity or something big comes the way you should take it, grab it, and run with it because you never know what can be your break. What can be your BIG break, what can be your time to shine, what can be your moment to be heard and show the people who said you couldn’t do it, that you did it.” He went on to tell us “some advice I would give for those who come after me is these simple three words GO FOR IT! Whatever IT is, and just goes for it because you only live once.”

Moving further into the interview we were to discuss some more about his work and something he is currently focused on, and this is what he told us “I’m currently focusing on the more fashion side of the industry and less modeling because I, in fact, do have a celebrity who I have been conversing with about styling them and joining their team (no I’m not saying the name, lol).”

The little secret he did tell us he said “I can tell y’all this tho, I recently been looking into trying to get with Kashdoll or Lil Kim. I’m just trying to make sure that I am prepared for what’s about to happen. I also have some roles in some upcoming films that I may be cast in. Shout out to my modeling manager for holding it down.”

While leaving us with words of wisdom, “Never say you “Can’t”. Anything in life is possible if you put the work in. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, how you use yours is up to you. Another thing people want to see you do good, but never better than them. Remember that.”

He also stated “I mean it’s quite simple you should be more aware of negative Energy. Most things in life you shouldn’t tell anyone about it until it’s done because having too many people in your business they’ll start speaking negatively over you and speaking down about it and hoping things don’t go as planned. Having too many negatives can overpower the positive.”

What you didn’t know about D’onQuays’ work is “When it comes to the modeling aspect I’ve been doing it for about 3 years. I’ll say 1.5 maybe 2 years on the fashion side like the stylist part I just recently actually started about last. To me, everything is still fresh in the book but it’s like I know what I’m capable of and I know what I could do so that’s why I have to push myself as hard as I do.” He told us “the position I’m at now, I have never expected for me to be at this point in my life. Me being who I am and being an open book is what sets me apart from others because I live life as myself. I live to please myself. I don’t live to please the crowd or to make sure Billy is happy or Sarah is happy. When you realize that living for yourself is better than living for others, you’ll be great.”

The small city boy told us, “I’m from a small city known as Darlington, South Carolina. Before I was who I am today, I was someone totally different. I looked at life differently and every aspect as to what it is now. My story started when I first found myself simply just switching my style up and taking pictures. Who knew it would bring me to today’s person. Before it was Chelsea boots it was just Nike sliders. As years pass by people began to tell me ‘you look like a model’ or ‘you should do this, that, and the third.’ I never took it to consideration of what they were saying and I looked in the mirror and realize this is my passion. I started with some research about the fashion industry. I realize this is something that I would love, so I did what I had to do which brings me into who I am now.
